1  Jim Poneta / Eastern European trip to the Czech Republic
Dear Jan,

Thank you for a very enjoyable hunt. This adventure caps a lifetime of hunts around the globe for me, making this Eastern European trip to the Czech Republic my sixth continent to hunt. It was one of the very best, thanks to your efforts throughout.Pulling the trigger and taking this huge Mouflon ram was a real bonus but I want to emphasize to you what were truly the more surprising and helpful aspects of this trip.

1. Before the hunt your timely responses to my initial inquiry and ... view more subsequent questions were impressive and, as it turned out, accurate.
2. Meeting us at the Prague airport and helping through customs with the firearm and ammo was impressive, not only to me, but also to wife Jan.
3. The fact that you were essentially “on call” as we spent the early days of our trip before the hunt when we headquartered in Prague was terrific for us, including your suggestions for restaurants, points of interest, shopping and cultural events. Again, you were very helpful for Jan.
4. I cannot truly express my gratitude well enough for the two days before and after the hunt when you voluntarily took us to Krupka in Northern Czech Republic and then to Bratronice and Belec spending those entire days as our interpreter for Jan and me and my Czech family of relatives who speak no English. That was above and beyond the call of duty.
5. The hunt area, the accommodations, the food, the guide, and the hunt itself, was everything and more that you indicated.
6. Again, you were a great help in getting us back to the airport and through the police checks in preparation for our return trip to the U.S.
7. And finally thank you for the follow up communication and other information since we have returned.

This was a great hunting trip, one of the best ever. And as is most often the case it revolved around a great outfitter who has his act together. Nice going!

Best Regards,

Jim Poneta

2  Barbara / Hunting Report Newsletter, USA March 2011
We haven’t had a report on the Czech Republic in a while, so we took note when we heard from subscriber James Poneta about a mouflon hunt he took there in November with M20876 a UK based agency that specializes in hunts in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Poneta tells us he is very happy with his hunt and with his CIC gold medal trophy, which scored 224.85. (See photo in the Trophy Gallery).

“The hunt took place in Lany, where the Czech royalty hunted for centuries,” says Poneta. Outfitter Jan ... view more Urban met Poneta and his wife at the Prague airport, showed them around Prague and gave his wife advice where to visit while Poneta was hunting. Urban then introduced Poneta to his guide, Steffen.

In the field, when the guide saw a trophy quality animal, he would write what he felt it would score on a slip of paper and show it to Poneta. During the hunt Poneta reports seeing lots of other game, including sika deer, fallow deer, red stag and wild boar. They did not see a lot of mouflon, but when they saw this ram with seven ewes feeding along a creek about 150 yards away, they agreed it was a worthwhile trophy, and Poneta took the shot. Poneta says the mouflon turned out to be 10 points better than Urban had thought possible in the area.

The mouflon live in hilly, forested areas that Poneta says they drove to in a “first class” government truck with a winch on the back. The hunt was conducted mainly on foot, walking through the timber and glassing. But, Poneta adds, “It’s not a really difficult hunt.” An oak branch was dipped in the animal’s blood; part of the branch was put in Poneta’s hat, the other part in the ram’s mouth. Urban brought Poneta’s wife and daughter out the next day for a ceremony where Poneta was given a gold medal and the documentation for his trophy. Accommodations were in a twostory chalet with very nice rooms, each with their own bathrooms. Meals were prepared by a wonderful full-time chef.

3  Roving Irish Syndicates / Driven Pheasant Shooting
Hi Eva,
On behalf of the four of us I would like to express our thanks to you for organizing our first shooting trip to Slovakia. We all had a truly enjoyable time, and were most impressed with the quality of the driven pheasant which we received, having already experienced driven pheasant shooting in Ireland,Scotland and France. We sincerely hope that the traditions and customs that are used on the hunting estates is something that will never be lost. We can only say that the people we met on the two estates ... view more were fantastic people, and even though we had a language barrier, they did their utmost to make us fell welcome and encourage us on the shooting field.

We also have to say a big thank you, to your good self, who organised a faultless operation and was always on hand to help us, and to translate. You provided a fantastic service to us from once we arrived at the airport arrival hall to the moment we departed from the departure lounge. We also have to thank Peter for showing us around the city of Nitra, and looking after us so well.

Having experienced Slovakian shooting first hand, we are looking forward to doing it all again next year.

The very best of luck to you,
Best Regards,

4  Wilmar / Wild Boar Stalking in Slovakia
Dear Eva, Thank you for arranging a very successful hunting trip to Slovakia for wild boars. I have great passion for hunting and have been hunting for more than 40 years. I have been traveling far and wide on hunting trips for almost 30 years, and I have to say that I have never seen as many wild boars at a given time, or seen such huge male boars before, let alone had the chance to shoot such a big wild boar trophy!I did see incredibly huge mouflons as well. The area is a hunters' paradise!

The ... view more accommodation was superb, a very nice, comfortable hunting lodge in the middle of the woods. The food served was good, and it was nice to have such a nice, helpful person like you around to do all the interpretations as needed.

I've had a great experience and have shared them with a lot of my friends, who I'm sure have taken my word for it, and you will possibly get to meet some of them in the near future.

My wife and I would also like to thank you once again for all your help, and we both look forward to see you in October on my next trip.
Best Regards,

5  Gerry & Gwyneth Brabyn / Driven Pheasant Shooting
Dear Eva

Thank you for a most enjoyable week in Slovakia, our party of eight (4 guns & spouses) were entertained and looked after far beyond our expectations.
The three days shooting interspersed with visits, including a tour of Bratislava and the opera, while staying in a superb castle along with 640 mounted trophies – looked after admirably by a game chef and his good lady was an experience not to be missed.

While the presentation of the driven game was superb I can honestly say ... view more after having shot for a good many years, including Scotland and most of the UK – nothing is comparable to the high pheasant in Slovakia.

One notable experience I personally hope never changes is the respect and ceremonies shown to the game before after and during the drives. The beaters and loaders while understanding little of our language, enthused warmth and encouragement and were a delight to be with.

Having experienced Slovakian shooting we will definitely be back next year.

I wish you and Jan every success in this truly unique venture

My very best regards

Gerry & Gwyneth Brabyn
