1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
Began giving tours in 1983 on Maui, with Elder Hostel. Private tours followed, then worked for larger group companies, then private business exclusively.
2. What is your company's mission?
To interpret the landscape and impart a sense of the living culture in a historical context, so that our visitors understand there are stories to the scenery, and meaning to the places.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Customized Private Tours, with or without walking, to the most popular sites and also to places seldom seen, with interpretation and a Hawaiian Cultural/Environmental focus. Nature, legends, wildlife, off the beaten path, food, music, fun!
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Pono Fried, teaching background with Master's in Education and 3 decades of experience.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
All tours are custom/one of a kind. I have never repeated a tour, ever!
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
That their tour was the highlight of their entire trip to Hawaii; that they wish they could have taken more tours with me; that they feel like they have a new friend; that they learned more than all their other visits to the islands combined.
