1  Judy Chu / Personal Tour Guide
Dear Ritz Carlton Maui,
I am Congressmember Judy Chu and I am just concluding my stay here at the Ritz Carlton Maui with my husband, California State Assemblymember Mike Eng. We enjoyed our stay here, but it was enhanced greatly by our personal tour with guide Barry Pono Fried. We would highly recommend him for future guests.
He was exceedingly thoughtful, personal and knowledgeable. He was a joy to be with! I have limited time and when on vacation, I want my tours to be high quality. He provided that ... view more and more.

2  Dr. Karen Wright / Private Tour on Maui
Having a personalized tour by Barry as if the spirit of Hawaii has
selected this special person to reveal to us its hospitality. He is
gifted as a teacher, and has a breath and a depth of knowledge about his
home far beyond any travel book can offer. Pono's detail descriptions were
truly extraordinary by bringing to life for us Maui's history, folk lore,
religion, legends, language, visual arts, music, herbs, geology,
agriculture, and cuisine leading up to and ... view more including its current cultural
context. He has the unique ability to see beyond one's expectations and
reveal a side of Maui that is truly awe inspiring, offering an experienceu
like no other from the seaside to upcountry. Barry took the time to get to
know us. It was not just a private tour, but also truly a customized one.
With knowing of my professional background in clinical sciences and
spirituality and with my sister-in-law's counseling position, Barry Pono
had a special surprise for us, and took us to a traditional healing
sacred mound and taught us about the medicinal plants and the chants of
offerings, something truly remarkable. Barry also took into account our
husbands' professions as artist, and shared with them breathtaking views.

he also shared the fruits of his labor by giving us flowers and fruits from
his farm. Barry Pono Fried truly embodies Hawaii's gracious spirit and
which our time here would not have been as wonderful.
