1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
The official business name started 15 years ago but I have been teaching for about 30 years now along with doing freelance photography while working full time at the in-house photographer for Ciba Geigy Pharmaceuticals.
2. What is your company's mission?
Our mission is to provide corporate, portrait, event and wedding photography as well as video production; coaching for artists, portfolio development, and workshops in photography and painting; and fine art photography sales and exhibitions.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Portraits, event photography, video production, workshops and classes at numerous art centers and museums in NJ, and exhibitions of my fine art photography.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Nancy Ori has been respected for over three decades as a corporate photographer and video producer. She also enjoys teaching at photography classes and workshops in the US and Europe as well as tutoring privately throughout the year. She was affiliated for many years with the Ansel Adams Workshop in CA and is presently on the faculty and regular lecturer at numerous art centers and museums in NJ. In 1990, she established the New Jersey Heritage Workshop Series, which she holds annually in Cape May for photographers and other artists. In 1995 she founded the New Jersey Photography Forum and then the Digital Arts Group. Over the years, the Forum has grown to become the largest group of exhibiting fine art photographers in the state. Ori’s work has been widely published and exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe. She holds a BA degree in Fine Arts and an MS degree in Visual Communications from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Both my Cape May workshop series in the spring and my fall destination workshop are quite popular. I work hard to plan great itineraries and then follow through with instruction on locations with the support of assistants at all my workshops. I research what everyone else is teaching at those locations, add more and make the price cheaper. I have become known as a fantastic value.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
My most recent portrait client said he didn't think he had ever seen such a great series of portraits of himself. The truth is, it is all about lighting and observation. I am good at that from years of experience in the corporate world and then with greats like Ansel who I had the opportunity of working with in the late 70's and early 80's and then taught at his workshop series after he passed away to help keep it running. I learned from the best and try to bring that to every workshop experience.
