Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Caracas - Merida City. Arrival to Aeropuerto Internacional Simón Bolívar. Meeting with the tour operators and transport to the National Airport for your connection Caracas - Mérida City in the Andes Mountains. Transfer to a Hotel at surroundings of the city. 1:00 p.m. lunch and relax. 5:00 p.m. visit to the Guinness Book of Records “Heladería Coromoto” (the ice-cream place with more flavors in the World!). Back to the hotel. Dinner.

Day 2: Merida - Sierra Nevada National Park - Los Frailes. Excursion to “Sistema Teleférico de Mérida”. The highest and longest Cable Car in the World! (5 stations, more than 12 kilometers and almost 5.000 meters sea level!). Spectacular mountain scenery with tropical forested foothills and snowcap peaks. A soft walk around the area is recommended to see the unique flora and fauna (with some of the endemic birds of Cordillera de Mérida). Breakfast at the second station. Midday back in town and lunch at the Principal Market. Visit to the local artisans. 2:00 p.m. we start our trip to the high Andes by car along picturesque villages and great countryside landscape. Accommodation in a Monastery for two nights (Hotel Los Frailes). Dinner.

Day 3: Los Frailes - San Isidro. Early excursion to San Isidro Trail for a morning walk where we can see one of the most beautiful birds in the World: the Andean cock-of-the Rock. Pic-nic breakfast and rest of the morning birding around the area. Besides many butterflies some other bird species are: Red-headed Barbet, Yellow-billed Toucanet, Booted Racquet-tailed Hummingbird, Long-tailed Sylph, Red-ruffed Fruitcrow, Crested and Golden-headed Quetzals, Collared Trogon, Bay-headed, Saffron-headed, Golden, Speckled and Orange-eared Tanagers, Subtropical Cacique, Cliff Flycatcher, Golden-winged Manakin, Inca jay, Red-billed Parrot, Black and Chestnut Eagle among several others. Midday lunch on the road and back to Santo Domingo river to look for the amazing Torrent Duck, an Andean special bird with an extreme adaptation to live in fast flowing mountain rivers. Return to the monastery. Dinner.

Day 4: Los Frailes. El Gaban. Apure River: Breakfast and check-out. Beginning the trip to descend from the Andes Mountains to the lowlands. Lunch on the road. 2:00 p.m approx. Check-in in El Gaban Lodge, relax. 4:00 p.m. visit to San Vicente (a small fishing village on the banks of the Apure River). Boat trip in search of the amazing wildlife of the Llanos region that includes: Green Iguanas, Hoatzins, Kingfishers, Herons, Birds of prey, and three of the most outstanding animal species of South America: Green Anaconda, Pink River Dolphin and the Red-bellied Piranha (three of our top ten star species). Cool box with ice and drinks are included. After the sunset we return to the Lodge. Dinner.

Day 5: El Gaban - El Cedral. Early excursion-safari (before dawn) to the nearby savannas in search of another intriguing and fantastic creature: the Giant Anteater (one of our star animal species in this trip) continuing our safari we have a good chance to see Giant River Otters, also fabulous numbers of birds specially in the dry season. Check-in before midday at the famous Hacienda El Cedral, (a huge cowboy ranch with 80,000 hectares completely packed with wildlife) in this place we can see so many Capybaras, Scarlet Ibises, countless Spectacled Caymans and of course the rare and endangered Orinoco Crocodile (three more in our list of top ten animal species). 1:00 p.m. lunch and midday relax. 3:30 in the afternoon safari inside the hacienda with return to the house at 6:30 approx. We will take a late boat trip (after dinner) for two consecutive nights for those who wants to try to see the elusive Jaguar. Back to the Ranch. Dinner.

Day 6: El Cedral. Breakfast. Safari in an open truck for the rest of the morning with a midday break for lunch. Boat trip in the afternoon. Dinner. Some of the animal species in the area are: Black-bellied and White-faced Whistling Ducks (thousands!), Fulvous Whistling Duck, Muscovy Duck, Brazilian Teal, Orinoco Goose, Jabirú, Maguari and Wood Storks, 7 Ibises including Buff-necked, Glossy and Sharp-tailed, more than 10 herons including Cocoi, the splendid Agami Heron and Capped Heron, more than 20 raptors including Crested Caracara, Savanna Hawk, Black-collared Hawk, Laughing Hawk, White-tailed Hawk, Aplomado Falcon, Great-black Hawk, Osprey and many others, 5 Kingfishers, Flycatchers, Parrots including Scarlet Macaws, and many migratory ones. Lots of Spectacled Caymans, Orinoco Crocodile, Anacondas and Piranhas. Back to the Lodge. Dinner.

Day 7: El Cedral - Puerto Ayacucho. Early check-out and beginning of our tour to the Amazonian territory at the south of the country. Today we have a long day by car approx. 8 hrs. with breakfast and lunch on the road. Great scenery. Fascinating transition of two different ecosystems: the open savannas of Los Llanos and the Orinoco rainforest at the entrance of the Amazon State. Accommodation in a Lodge on the banks of the mighty Orinoco River. Check-in at 5:00 p.m. Swimming at the river is recommended (do not miss the sunset!). Dinner.

Day 8: Orinoco River. Breakfast and morning walk, no cars today! Besides the colorful lizards and many butterflies, look for the following birds: Violaceus Euphonia, Moriche Oriole, Olive Oropendola, Turquoise Tanager, Guianan Cock-of-the-rock, White-browed Purpletuft, Yellow-crested Manakin, Great Antshrike, Red-necked Woodpecker, Channel-billed and White-throated Toucans, Ivory-billed, Black-necked and Green Aracaries, Black-tailed Trogon among Parrots, Raptors, Flycatchers and several others. Lunch at the Camp. Afternoon Boat trip in the Orinoco River. Other possible wildlife: Pink-river Dolphins, Giant River Otters, Red-howler, Capuchin, and Spider Monkeys. Return to the Camp. Dinner.

Day 9: Puerto Ayacucho - Caura River. Early check-out and beginning our tour to the east of the country in search of Caura River (the second biggest in the country). Breakfast and lunch on the way. Accommodation at 4:00 p.m.in a Lodge near Caura river. Check-in and relax. Extraordinary landscape on the way with spectacular rock formations that belongs to the Guianan Shield (the oldest piece of land on Earth). Evening visit to Caura river. Dinner.

Day 10: Caura River. Ciudad Bolivar. Canaima. Check-out and early transfer to Ciudad Bolivar Airport (3 ½ hrs approx.). Breakfast on the way. Check-in at the airport to take the flight to “Canaima National Park”. Midday briefing and lunch at the famous Canaima Lagoon with the magnificent Hacha Falls in front. Afternoon excursion to El Sapo Falls and continuing our tour by boat along Carrao River to stay overnight near the famous Auyantepuy Mount. Accommodation in hammocks with mosquito nets in a jungle camp. Barbecue dinner.

Day 11: Canaima. Angel Falls. Breakfast at the camp and continuing our trip by boat through Carrao River and Churun River bordering the east wall of the fantastic Auyantepuy Mount till the Devil´s Canyon. Before midday we will see the incredible Angel Falls (the World´s tallest waterfalls, with almost one kilometer tall!) discovered by the american pilot Jimmy Angel and named after him in the first half of the 19th century. Absolutely one of the World´s most spectacular landscapes. Lunch and one hour walk to the base of the falls to the view point. Return to the camp. Dinner.

Day 12: Angel Falls - Canaima - Ciudad Bolivar - Imataca. Breakfast and trip back to Canaima base camp. Midday flight to Ciudad Bolivar. Lunch in the City. 2:00 p.m. transfer to Imataca Forest Reserve in search of the mighty Harpy Eagle. Accommodation in a local Lodge. Afternoon excursion to the rainforest in search of the famous Harpy Eagle (monkey eating eagle). For this experience we will be assisted by a local guide who is the one of the field assistants of renowned biologist Dr. Alexander Blanco who is in charge of the Harpy Eagle Research Center of Imataca Forest Reserve. They have monitored more than sixty nests in the last ten years! Other possible species for today are: Monkeys, Sloth, Tamandua, colorful Poison Frogs, Blue Morpho Butterflies, Tarantulas and many Parrots, Toucans, Raptors and Tanagers. Back to the Lodge. Dinner.

Day 13: Imataca Forest Reserve - Caripe. Breakfast and excursion to the rainforest. Back to the camp at 10:00 a.m. for packing and check-out. lunch on the way. Rest of the day transfer to Caripe, a picturesque village near the coast. Today we will visit the famous Guacharo Cave (Parque Nacional Cueva del Guácharo). In this place we can see the World´s biggest colony of Oil Birds with an estimated number of 20,000 birds!, definitely one of the highlights of the hole trip. Accommodation in a mountain hotel. Dinner.

Day 14: Caripe - Mochima National Park. 7:30 a.m. breakfast and 8:00 a.m. transfer to the coast. Midday check-in in a Hotel in Puerto La Cruz City. 1:00 p.m. lunch at the Hotel. 2:00 p.m. we will visit Mochima National Park to take a boat trip (an hour approx.) to see the Caribbean “Bottle Nose” Dolphins, great experience! After watching the dolphins, the boat will take us to a local paradisiacal beach to spend the rest of the day. 6:00 p.m approx. return to the Hotel. Dinner.

Day 15: Mochima N.P. - Caracas International Airport. Transfer to the International Airport in Caracas (4 ½ hrs approx.). Lunch at the Airport. Check-in for the evening International Flight back home. Exchanging addresses. End of our services.
