The Three Gorges Dam, is the world’s largest hydroelectric project using the rich water resources of the Three Gorges and the newest attraction on the Yangtze cruise line. After the damming of the open diversion channel on Nov 6, 2002 during the second stage of the Three Gorges Dams construction, the Yangtze River Cruise resumed from June 16th, 2003 with still magnificent gorge, impressive mountain landscape and some new attractions.
Day 1: Arrive in Shanghai, the bustling commercial heart of China, known as “Paris of the East”. Meet your guide on arrival and be transferred to your comfortable hotel. Includes: (D).
Day 2: Shanghai
Visit the Bund, at the west shore of the Huangpu River, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower can be seen on the opposite side. The splendid row of early 20th century Europe buildings remains the quintessential Shanghai sight. Visit fascinating Yuyuan Garden, a well-restored Suzhou-style garden, and take a walk through the Old Town filled with antique markets and specialty stores. Then, visit to the marvelous Shanghai Museum, a leading attraction of the city since it opened in 1994, containing some priceless collections of paintings, porcelains and bronzes. Enjoy a fabulous Acrobatic Show in the evening. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Shanghai-Yichang
Visit the Jade Buddha Temple where two rare jade statues of Sakyamuni Buddha are treasured. The next religious site you will see is the St. Ignatius Cathedral built in 1846. Move on to wander around the former French Concession laid out by the French in 1909, represented by the leafy Fuxing Park and the architecture in the area. Take an afternoon flight to Yichang, a river port by the Three Gorges Dam site. Embark your deluxe Yangtze River Cruise this evening. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4: Yangtze River Cruise
Depart at 07:00am from Yichang, pass the eastern section of the Xiling Gorge, which is the longest gorge among the three gorges. Around 08:00am-11:00am, excursion to the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric project and the newest attraction on the Yangtze River Cruise line, pass through the Five-Step Ship Locks of Three Gorges Dam. Then, cruise through the western section of Xiling Gorge. In the evening, enjoy the Captain’s Welcome Banquet and Singing & Dancing Party. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Yangtze River Cruise
Around 08:00am-12:30am, excursion to Shennong Stream, you will become immersed in the wonders of zigzagging watercourses, the primitive environment and the mysterious culture along the banks. Then, the ship will cruise through Wu Gorge, which is the most beautiful section of the Yangtze River, flanked by high peaks that are often capped by fog or clouds. At about 15:30pm, the cruise will enter Qutang Gorge, 8km long, which is the last (most up stream) and shortest of the gorges, quite spectacular. Enjoy the Singing & Dancing Party in the evening. Day 6: Yangtze River Cruise. Around 08:00am-11:30am, you will disembark to visit the city of Fengdu, popularly known as the “city of ghost”, on the south bank of the river. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner and Party in the evening. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: Yangtze River Cruise-Chongqing-Beijing. Yangtze River Cruise will be ended at about 09:00am in Chongqing. Upon disembarking, enjoy a brief city tour of the most famous mountain city in China, including the People’s Hall of Chongqing and Pipashan (Loquat Hill) Park. Take an afternoon flight to Beijing. Check in your hotel. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 8: Beijing
Begin the day’s activity with a visit to Tian’anmen Square, the largest urban square in the world. Then, move on to the Imperial Palace, also known as the “Forbidden City”, the biggest palace complex in the world. In the afternoon, visit the enchanting Summer Palace, one of China’s largest and best-preserved royal gardens, where you can have a walk along the famous Long Corridor. A Peking Duck Dinner concludes your first full day’s activities in Beijing. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 9: Beijing. Today’s highlight is the visit of the Great Wall, one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” and a symbol of Chinese civilization. Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across mountains. Then, move on to visit the Ming Tombs (Changling Tomb) area where is for deceased emperors of the Ming Dynasty. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 10: Return from Beijing. Be transferred to the airport and board on your homebound flight. Includes: (B).
