Join Photo us for a truly unique South African Quest and experience this amazingly diverse country in luxurious style. Enjoy 5-star hotels and lodges as we track the Big Five on our own private safari through the Sabi Sands Game Reserve adjacent to Kruger National Park. Travel along the continent of Africa’s southern-most coastline to explore colorful port cities, world-renowned wineries, wildlife-rich national parks and endless “bella-vista” landscapes.

South Africa is the ideal destination for those seeking to photograph the "Big Five" - both of land and sea - with the opportunity to experience excellent food and wine and jaw dropping scenery.

Day 1: Depart USA for Cape Town, South Africa (CPT)
Leave the US on your flights to Capetown, South Africa (CPT).

Day 2 : Arrive Cape Town, South Africa
Transportation from the airport will be provided. Transfer to Victoria and Alfred Hotel, your home for the next 3 nights. Enjoy the amazing hospitality and prime waterfront location while you explore Cape Town. Nestled under Table Mountain and ringed by rugged beaches, Cape Town is one of the world’s most dramatically beautiful cities. (D)

Day 3: Cape Town-Table Mountain-Robben Island
In the morning, take a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain. The main feature of this mountain is a level plateau of 3km, bordered to the east by Devil's Peak and to the west by Lion's Head. Table Mountain is one of the most recognizable natural landmarks in the world. The cable car ride, which lasts about 5 minutes, offers exceptional photography of the Cape Peninsula. If the skies are clear, you can see the city and Robben Island (home to Nelson Mandela for many years), the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, mountain ranges, ravines, the inland Plains and all the way down to Cape Point. (B,D)

After lunch, depart for the historic side of Cape Town during a tour of Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent 27 years of his life. We will be able to shoot great images from the ferry. (B)

Day 4: Cape Town-Cape Point
We will depart after breakfast for an all day trip to Cape Point. Highlights include: one of the world’s most spectacular drives, Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Noordhoek Beach, the Cape Point Nature Reserve, two lighthouses on the tip of Africa, Boulders Penguin Colony, Simonstown and Kalk Bay. We will also visit and photograph South Africa’s most famous wine region, Stellenbosch. (B,L,D)

Day 5: Whale Coast-Hermanus
After breakfast, we make our way to Hermanus, traveling through the towns of Rooi Els and Betty's Bay and following one of the most scenic coastal routes in South Africa. Several stops are made at various vantage points to enjoy the spectacular scenery. We will arrive at our lodge late afternoon and will shoot our first sunset. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Shark Cage Diving Tour
This morning, we will leave for the Shark Cage Diving Tour. You will photograph the Great White sharks near the Geyser and Dyer Islands from the safety of a cage. You could get close and personal in the cage or photograph them from the deck of the largest and most stable boat operating from Gansbaai Harbour.

After a late lunch at Grootbos, you can go on the optional scenic flight over the ocean to photograph whales or sharks, or go on a guided tour to photograph the wonder and mystery of the ancient coastal caves along the rocky shores of De Kelders. Photograph the beauty of limestone cliffs crumbling onto white sand beaches battered by the surging waves and salty sea breeze. Photograph sunset from a special vantage point. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Whale Coast-Hermanus
After breakfast we will go on a private boat tour to photograph the Marine Big 5 whales, dolphins, African penguins, Cape Fur Seals and Great White sharks. Late afternoon, we will do a guided Fynbos Walk. Photograph sunset from the lodge (B,L,D)

Day 8: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve
After breakfast drive back to Cape Town to catch our flights to Sabi Sabi. The flight departs at 10:30 am and arrives at 1:00 pm. This afternoon depart on your first game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. Enjoy sundowners in the bush, as you witness the multi-hued African sunset.

Afterwards, return to the lodge where a delicious dinner is enjoyed, along with the camaraderie of fellow Questers. Game drives are conducted twice daily. An experienced tracker accompanies each game vehicle to enhance the experience and interaction with the wildlife. The lodge also offers the option of joining midday walking safaris and thrilling night game drives where we will be shooting star trails. (B,L,D)

Days 9, 10, 11: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve
The wildlife sightings in the Sabi Sand are amongst the finest in Africa and it is especially notable that this private reserve offers the greatest frequency of leopard sightings on the African continent. The highlight of the morning drive will be the chance to observe members of the Big Five in close proximity. Lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino all grace this wilderness area and the frequency of sightings is unparalleled. Even the leopard, which is the most elusive of Africa's predators, is spotted on a daily basis.

Return to the Lodge for a scrumptious breakfast before allotting some time for relaxation and to download images. The afternoon safari stretches into the evening. Large predators are at their most active during the late afternoon and early evening and the possibility of sighting one of the large cats going for the kill is sure to make for interesting campfire conversation. (B,L,D)
