Day 1 Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa, Puyuhuapi, Chile
Arrive into Santiago’s International Airport, where you will take an internal flight down to Balmaceda. There, your tour through the Aysen region begins, crossing patagonian pampas for 45 minutes to reach the city of Coyhaique. After lunch, we continue along the scenic Austral Road to the Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa (5 hrs approx). Much of the trip is along a gravel road that passes through extraordinary landscapes of dense forests between mountains and cliffs. In the afternoon we arrive at the Lodge pier and then cross the Puyuhuapi Channel by motorboat in just 10 minutes. Welcome!
Day 2 Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa, Puyuhuapi, Chile
Surrounded by lush vegetation, and accessible only by sea, this unique Lodge is where understated luxury and a well planned simplicity combine to create a unique atmosphere. We warmly welcome guests and invite them to explore and experience the stunning wilderness of Chilean Patagonia. Numerous excursions guide you through the temperate forest to Queulat National Park and its Hanging Glacier, or explore the Dorita Bay in boats and kayaks. Back at the Lodge, you can enjoy the thermal waters and a complete Spa offering relaxation massages and the benefits of thalassotherapy sessions. Refined cuisine with regional fresh sea food and vegetables coming straight from our own greenhouse and a selection of fine chilean wines is also part of the experience.
Day 3 Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa, Puyuhuapi, Chile
Today is another day to trek in the rain forest, take a day trip across the fjord, kayak with the dolphins or simply soak in the wonderful hot natural spring water in either the outdoor or indoor pools.
Day 4 Hotel Loberias del Sur, Puerto Chacabuco, Chile
At 7:00 am we board the Patagonia Express catamaran and begin our journey through the austral fjords. The 7-hour route is a sheer delight to the senses: the transparency of the waters, the majesty of the Andes Mountains wrapped in lush forests, the play of light interwoven through the clouds, and sometimes, encounters with playful dolphins. We will sail through a number of channels, leading us to the San Rafael Lagoon, home to a millenarian glacier. After a visit of 2 hours, we begin our return trip, arriving in Puerto Chacabuco around 10:30 p.m., where we will be transferred to the hotel in Puerto Chacabuco or Coyhaique.
Day 5 Riverside Lodge, Cochamo Valley, Chile
After breakfast, we travel by bus along the route that follows the Simpson River, from Chacabuco or Coyhaique, and then continue on to the airport in Balmaceda for your flight to Puerto Montt, in Chle's Lakes District. There, you will have a transfer through Puerto Varas and drive along the eastern shore of Chile's second largest lake: Llanquihue (pronounced <yawn KEY way>), then eastward into the Cochamo Valley and to the Riverside Lodge for the next 3 nights.
Day 6 Riverside Lodge, Cochamo Valley, Chile
As the original, and still the only, full-service lodge and outfitter in the Cochamo Valley – Chile's ‘best-kept natural secret' – Campo Aventura welcomes all visitors seeking an unforgettable experience in the Andean wilderness amid mountains and volcanoes, rainforests and rivers, waterfalls and endless views . All you need to bring is your sense of enthusiasm, adventure, curiosity and wonder. We will provide all of your meals and activities, such as horseback treks, vigorous hikes, slow walks, kayaking with dolphins, biking down volcanoes, visits with local families, a swaying hammock under the trees, or just a good book by a warm stove.
Day 7 Riverside Lodge, Cochamo Valley, Chile
After breakfast you will have another full day of activities to choose from in the Rio Cochamo rainforest and La Junta's granite-ringed valley. If you are up to it, experiencing northern Patagonia via horseback is probably the best way to travel and traverse this varied landscape. The mountainous terrain, the numerous waterfalls and streams and rivers, densely grown rainforest trails, and sometimes rainy days are effortlessly handled by local criollo horses, who take travelers along centuries-old pathways. Whatever activity you choose, you will have a hot dinner by the fire when you return to the lodge.
Day 8 Santiago, Home
After breakfast, the lodge will provide your transfer to the airport outside of Puerto Montt for your flight back to Santiago either to extend your trip or to make your international connection home.
