In Chukotka brown bears are found near rivers, where pacific salmon come to spawn. In the middle of summer salmon is the main food of brown bears. Commonly dark brown or black – bright hues and "silvertips" are very rare – these bears are very strong, ranging in height between 2.5 and 3 meters, and are much more dangerous than North American Grizzlies. In terms of power they match the coast bears of Alaska.

The locals of Chukotka show little interest in bears and don't hunt them; thus, very few hunts are organized there regularly. We'll share our expertise and introduce you to the local hunters. The best time for a bear hunt is April 20-May 25 when old bear males awake from hibernation get active; because of deep snow, snowmobiles can be used. The hunt is usually done by truck vehicles and snowmobiles to approach bears in sight for a good shot. The success rate in spring is usually 100%. August-October is also good for a bear hunt.
