Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Board your overnight transatlantic flight at JFK international airport.

Day 2: Arrive Europe and connect onto your onward flight to Nairobi with the minimum connecting time possible for members whose tickets are issued by us. On arrival in Nairobi late evening your room will be available and ready for check inn. Overnight at your Nairobi hotel.

Day 3: Welcome to Africa! Look forward to a journey through the majestic, unspoiled landscape to amazing game reserves where the dark continents incomparable wildlife is protected in its natural habitat. Settle into your hotel, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and then maybe shop for stylish safari outfit. An afternoon orientation drive takes you through Kenya’s modern capital to the area of Karen Blixen farm at the foot of Ngong hills. Visit the fascinating museum dedicated to the author of out of Africa, feed the giraffes at the giraffe center. Admire authentic African art and crafts at the Utamaduni. Tonight short briefings about the safari routine before you enjoy a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 4: Nairobi – Samburu. Early morning departure to make way to the northern foothills of Mount Kenya, a 17,050 foot dormant volcano with a glistening cap of ice and snow. Lunch is reserved at the renowned Naromoru river lodge. In the afternoon proceed to the grassland area which forms the bridge between Kenya’s lush south and parched north. Watch out for herds of Impalas, gazelles and buffalo as you enter Samburu National reserve. Dinner and over night at your lodge.

Day 5: Samburu. A Full day of game driving including outings at dawn, when animals are most active, late morning and afternoon, when the light is best for photography. You stay close to the Ewaso Nyiro River, where vast herds of plains game come to water, braving the lions in the grass, leopards in the trees and giant crocodiles. Enjoy a bush dinner accompanied by Samburu Moran dancers.

Day 6: Samburu to Mount Kenya National Park. Head south into the well watered, fertile area where the Kikuyu tribe grows corn, bananas, pineapples, coffee and tea. This afternoon a unique experience join a qualified naturalist for a nature walk to learn about the flora and fauna. Dinner and over night at your lodge.

Day 7: Mount Kenya National Park to Lake Nakuru. Visit the spectacular Thomson’s falls at Nyahururu and then make your way down the eastern escarpment of the magnificent rift valley. After lunch take a leisurely drive through Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its pink flamingos. Drive to the edge of the lake to view thousands of birds feeding in the alkaline water, see sweeping view from the top of Baboon rocks, and then look for warthogs and water bucks as you leave the park.

Day 8: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara. Early morning departure with game drives enroute. Traverse the rift valley and ascend its western rim towards Maasai country, where sedentary crop farming gives way to nomadic cattle herding. Red-clad, spear wielding Maasai warriors tend to multicolored herds among the wild animals of loita plains. Afternoon game viewing returning to your lodge in time for dinner at Mara Safari Club.

Day 9: Maasai Mara. Start the day with a bush breakfast by the Hippo Pool. Then morning and afternoon game drives in the reserve.

Mara Safari Club: Your base for the adventure is the Mara Safari Club, which lies in the north west of the Masai Mara, at the foot of the Aitong Hills. The camp is positioned on an ox-bow of the Mara River, so that all en-suite tents have a view of the hippo-filled river. The lodge is surrounded by well- cultivated gardens dotted among indigenous trees. The Club driver/guides are extremely knowledgeable on the Mara and its wildlife. At the Mara Safari Club, the swimming pool, and nightly activities of wildlife slide shows, traditional dancing and talks on Masai culture, combined with your game viewing ventures, all make your experience in the Masai Mara excitingly unique and luxurious. The Lodge resident Naturalist also takes nature and bird walks in the environs of the Club, for those who feel in need of a little exercise, as well as early morning escorted walks in the Conservation area culminating in a bush breakfast.

Day 10: Maasai Mara to Nairobi.

Early morning game drives to complete your list of sightings. Fly over the Great Rift Valley, arrive Nairobi early afternoon in time for those final shopping moments. Relax by the pool and later tonight compare notes with your Safari companion as you enjoy a farewell dinner at the most famous African restaurant, the Carnivore.

Day 11: Depart Nairobi.

Morning at leisure with enough time to do last minute shopping and later afternoon depart Nairobi on your international flight. Arrival in Europe early morning, in good time for your onward connection to JFK.

Day 12: Your home bound flight arrives at JFK marking the end of your memorable Safari experience.
