Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Cochin (Kochi)

Upon your arrival at Kochi Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and escorted to your hotel. Kochi is the commercial capital and the most cosmopolitan city of Kerala. Also known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi has one of the finest natural harbours in the world and is an important spice trading centre. Starting from the Dutch, Portuguese and the British, Kochi was the site of the first European colonial settlements in India. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: Day in Kochi

After an early breakfast, embark on a morning excursion to Vaikom village. Enjoy a village tour, seeing local villagers making coir from the fibre of coconut husk, weaving straw mats and moulding pottery. Visit a khadi weaving unit, where villagers produce home spun and hand woven cloth, an art practiced by Mahatma Gandhi. You also get the opportunity to interact with the local villagers. Also visit the famous Vaikom Mahadeva Temple, to see a typical example of Kerala style temple architecture.

After lunch, enjoy a city tour of Kochi, visiting the Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Fort Cochin, St. Francis Church and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening, watch a spectacular Kathakali performance. Kathakali is one of the oldest theatre forms in India. It is a spectacular combination of drama, dance, music and ritual. Characters with vividly painted faces and elaborate costumes re-enact stories from the Hindu epics of Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Kochi to Munnar (135 Km /3 Hrs)

This morning, embark on your drive to Munnar, one of the most popular hill resorts of south India. British rulers called Munnar ‘Switzerland of India' for its natural surroundings and cool climate. The entire area is occupied by thick forests and tea estates. The specialty of Munnar is jungle honey, tea and a rare flower ‘Neela Kurunji’ which blooms once in a 12 years. Upon arrival check in to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 4: Day in Munnar. After breakfast, visit the Tata Tea Museum learning about the cultivation and processing of a variety of Indian teas. Return back to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5: Munnar to Periyar (160 Km / 04 Hrs). This morning, embark on a scenic drive to Periyar, the wildlife and spice plantation hub of Kerala. Upon arrival in Periyar, check in to your hotel and freshen up. Rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 6: Day in Periyar

Breakfast in Hotel. Spend the morning, exploring the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary, one of the finest elephant reserves of south India. Enjoy boating on the serene Periyar Lake, in the heart of the sanctuary. Periyar National Park is situated in the hills of the Western Ghats in the state of Kerala in southwest India. The centrepiece of Periyar National park is the 5,500-hectare Periyar Lake formed by the construction of a dam on the Periyar River in 1895. Along the fringes of the lake are marshy areas with tall grasslands.

Periyar National Park is one of the richest habitats of large mammals, as it provides both excellent cover and nourishment in the form of succulent shoots and grasses. Here it is possible to see large herds of Indian Elephant with relative ease as well as Nilgiri Langur near Aranya Niwas and the Liontail Macaque in higher areas. This afternoon, enjoy a spice plantation tour and learn about the mystery and history of Indian spices. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 7: Periyar to Kumarakom (185 Km/ 3.5 Hrs). After breakfast, embark on your drive to Kumarakom, a coastal town in the backwaters of Kerala. Upon arrival in Kumarakom, check in to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 8: Day in Kumarakom. After breakfast visit, Vembanad lake, one of Asia's largest freshwater lakes. Vembanad Kayal, as it is called in the regional language, acts as a giant reservoir, a balancing tank against floods, and a major ecological resource, which has conditioned the flora, fauna and lifestyles of the people who live on its banks. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 9: Kumarakom to Kumarakom Jetty (Houseboat)

After breakfast, drive Kumarakom Jetty to board your houseboat to cruise through the backwaters of Kerala. The backwater cruise in a country boat is the best way to explore the villages and rural life. Join the backwater cruise the most fascinating and enjoyable route available. Cruise through the punnamada lake, admire the old chavara bhavan, traditional nalukettu houses, enjoy panoramic view of paddy fields, visit the ancient champakkulam church, view the snake boats, visit the historical temple of ambalappuzha and the ancient Buddhist image of karumadikkutan. Enjoy the view of Chinese fishing nets at kayamkulam pozhy.

Kerala backwaters consist of a complex network of lagoons, lakes, & canals and are best experienced while slowly rowing down the labyrinth of canals in a traditional thatch-roofed houseboat, known as 'Kettuvallam'. See life on the banks, lush green rice fields, and coconut groves with occasional temple or church as you cruise through the canals. Relish the special Kerala style meals prepared by your chef on board. Overnight stay at houseboat.

Day 10: Alleppey to Kochi (Depart) – (63 Km / 01 Hrs & 30 Min). This morning, enjoy breakfast on board. Alight your houseboat at Alleppey and embark on a drive to Kochi airport to catch your flight for back home.
