Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Frankfurt Airport (or Main Station)- Nuremberg. By High speed Rail (ICE) you will go from Frankfurt or Frankfurt Airport directly to Nuremberg. Your charming hotel is located in the Old Town - right across from Nuremberg Main Station. The Nuremberg Reformation history shows that Martin Luther’s ideas found fertile soil here. Motivated by a great majority of the citizens, the Nuernberg Council decided as early as 1525, after the “Colloquy” to reform the city. It made Nuernberg one of the first cities to make this change without an Iconoclasm. Nuremberg today, is a sizable modern city and the center of a European metropolitan region, yet the charm of the Middle Age village and its treasures remains.

Day 2: Coburg. After breakfast you will take a day trip by rail to Coburg. The picturesque Center of Coburg offers a journey through time and a look into the history of the city. The Middle Age “Münzmeisterhaus” finds itself among significant Renaissance and Baroque buildings like the Castle Ehrenburg. The Veste Coburg castle became a witness to Luther’s accomplishments, as he translated the “Old Testament” while here. The Luther Chapel and the so called “Luther Apartment” in the Art collection in the Veste Coburg, afford an intimate look into his life and workings. Luther preached in the Moriz Church.

Day 3: Augsburg. By High-Speed Rail you will get to Augsburg. Augsburg is the city most famous for the Augsburg Confession, the Religious Peace Treaty and the celebration thereof. The theological-historical museum “Lutherstiege” of St. Anna’s Church displays valuable early Luther writings, documents books and paintings. The traces of Martin Luther and of the Reformation in the Renaissance city Augsburg are many. Attractions within the renaissance city bring the Reformation history to life. In the evening you will get back to Nuremberg by High-Speed Rail.

Day 4: Nuremberg - Frankfurt (Airport or Main Station). By High-Speed Rail you will get from Nuremberg directly to Frankfurt Airport. If you have the time you might also extend your tour and stay a day or two in Frankfurt and/or visit the Upper Rhine Valley which is nearby. You might also combine this tour with a variety of tours from Frankfurt.
