The most beautiful game-drives you may experience in the late afternoon: Most of the people have left the crater-floor, the light gets soft and the activity of the wild animal’s increases. Please have a sufficient quantity of film-rolls! Clients will take more pictures of this fantastic African landscape, flora and fauna than you have ever expected. Dinner and Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 4: Empakai Crater

Very few people have experienced this extraordinary excursion, which is on the itinerary of today. Passing the slopes of the Olmoti Crater you will be fascinated by the scenery of Embulbul Depression, Loolmalassin- and Empakai Crater. On a really difficult track we will “ride” you to the rim of Empakai Crater (2700 m). The Caldera is edged by 600 m high, steep, jungle walls and its floor is covered with a green glimmering lake - the seasonal home of millions of flamingos. With some luck, you may see them. This excursion offers the possibility, that you will meet Maasai in their untouched environment, not invaded by tourists. An armed ranger will accompany clients which open the chance to descend to the crater floor (tough path!). Dinner and Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Important: Unforeseeable events like heavy rain leave the track to Empakai impassable. In these cases clients will enjoy a day of rest or (if clients like) make an excursion to Olmoti Crater.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti National Park

Passing Ngorongoro crater rim you descend through a really impressive landscape down to Oldupai Gorge. There you will find the most complete and eldest proofs of human development. Stop for the information about the cradle of mankind! Excursion to the Fig tree (if clients like too): Drive on dusty, nearly never used trails to the north - an excursion into a lost wilderness. Clients will find a fig tree in untouched Maasai land, north of Oldupai and close to the Gol Mountains. Even if clients are not so interested in trees, this tree might tell client about the last 1000 years.

We found this tree about 24 years ago and used to talk for hours with him. We are proud to show our lonely friend and clienst will not forget this “cathedral of a tree”! Important: The track to the Fig tree is extremely dusty and impassable if it is raining. Continue to the heart of Serengeti. Dinner and Overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge / Serena Mbuzi Mawe Luxury Tented Lodge

Days 6 – 9: Serengeti National Park

You will have plenty of time to explore the Serengeti, one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world with an incredible live stock. Your game drives will be adapted to the animals’ position. This season is also called “cat’s time”, because all big cats are going hunting more as the big herds are standing in the North, in Maasai Mara. As all our safaris have no limit of mileage and time, you have the best chances to become witness of a hunting scene. Dinner and Overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge / Serena Mbuzi Mawe Luxury Tented Lodge.

Day 10: Serengeti National Park – Lobo Area (Serengeti North)

Today clients will drive to Lobo area, the “rolling land” in the northern Serengeti. Landscape there is totally different to all what clients have seen yet. Clients will possibly do a short walk around, please be aware of baboons, buffaloes and hyenas. Game drives with picnic lunch to the lobo springs, to Bologonja, Klein’s Camp and along the Gagoti (maybe clients will find leopards there). Dinner and overnight: Lobo Wildlife Lodge (Basic Lodge).

Days 11 & 12: Serengeti Lobo - Lake Natron

A stony track leads clients to Loliondo and Sonjo. On black soil and through a wild and cliff landscape clients will reach the Seven Corners offering you an amazing view over Lake Natron surrounded by Shompole (Kenya) in the North, opposite Gelai and next to Oldonyo Lengai - the Maasais holy mountain. A tough track leads to tented Lodge at River Ngarasero. Dinner and overnight: Lake Natron Bush Camp (Basic lodge). Clients can carefully walk to a gorge. After 30 minutes clients will reach a place which you would never have expected in this dry and desert-like area: waterfalls, natural Jacuzzi and palms! Clients will feel like in paradise!

Examples of an additional day which can be integrated here in this itinerary:

At 2:00 a.m. clients will start your climb to the peak of Oldonyo Lengai - still an active volcano! Please strictly comply with instructions of your guide! The chance of seeing eruptions or effluents of cold lava (black and about 500°C) is really big. Clients will have a fantastic and unique view from the peak! Clients can see the Kitumbeine, Kerimasi and Empakai Crater and by luck Mt. Meru too. Like a Fata Morgana Lake Natron lies beneath clients feet. Dinner and overnight : Lake Natron Bush Camp (Basic lodge).

Day 13: Lake Natron – Tarangire. Today’s drive is going to be long and exhausting. Along the nearly vertical walls of the Rift our track takes us back into civilization. Drive to Tarangire National Park. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge / Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Includes: (FB).

Day 14: Tarangire – Arusha. Morning game drive in Tarangire National Park which is normally characterized by good wildlife during dry season huge herds of elephants can be seen in this park and it is famous for its Baobab Trees.
