Days 1-2: Moremi Crossing, Okavango Delta, Botswana
Upon guests arrival into Maun Airport, they will be met by our representative. Afterwards they will be transferred to Moremi Crossing by light aircraft, where they will stay for 2 nights. Moremi Crossing is located on an Island called Ntswi near the most southern part of Chief’s Island. As you fly over the Delta you can see the intricate twisting and turning of the waterways and the ever-changing colours where dry land meets water. The channels around Moremi Crossing offer far reaching vistas of the Moremi floodplain, grasslands and marginal woodlands interspersed with Mokolwane palm islands.
Moremi Crossings provides comfortable accommodation in 16 vintage en-suite safari tents, each with its own private wooden deck. The main area consists of a large open plan split level deck that offers spectacular views over the Boro River onto Chiefs Island. The dining room, bar and lounge are covered by a large thatched roof with the decked areas leading out to the pool. The whole camp is shaded by magnificent palms, giant ebony, mangosteen, sausage and giant fig trees. The camp has 24hr solar powered electricity/ lightning. Moremi Crossing is a water based camp and therefore access to the camp from the airstrip is either by mokoro or moroboat. Activities on offer include mokoro excursions, guided walks and water levels permitting sunset cruises by motorboat. All these activities give the guests the chance to experience the Okavango Delta and its game from a very different slower and closer perspective.
Days 3-4: Khwai Tented Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana
After an early morning activity and breakfast (time permitting), guests will be transferred to Khwai Tented Camp by light aircraft, where they will stay for 2 nights. This provides the perfect setting of a wilderness area where a community lives in harmony with nature and wildlife. The magnificent Khwai River is the hub for some of the most outstanding wildlife viewing both on the Moremi and in the Khwai area. Khwai Tented Camp is a small 8 bedded tented camp situated along this life supporting river. It is a luxury semi permanent camp in Hemingway style, with en-suite bathroom and flushing toilette. The style of the camp is in the East African Meru tentage, as the original explorers moved through the African wilderness.
It is designed for the luxury camping seeker who is looking for the real African experience in a simple and yet understated tented safari experience. The main focus is the wildlife experience including walking and excursions to the legendary Moremi game reserve. Activities on offer are game drives, walking and night excursions including cultural village outings to the old bushman village of Khwai. In this area is a variety of wildlife seen like elephants, buffalos, zebras, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, giraffes, elands, sables, hippos, hyenas and various other nocturnal species.
Day 5-6: Kubu Lodge, Kasane, near Chobe National Park, Botswana
Following the morning activity (time permitting), guests will be transferred to Kasane where they will picked up by a staff member of Kubu Lodge who drives them to the Lodge. At Kubu Lodge they stay for 2 nights. Kubu Lodge is a small, privately owned lodge on the banks of the Chobe River, on the doorstep of the world famous Chobe National Park, and only an hour away from the mighty Victoria Falls. Set upon rolling lawns and shaded beneath giant ebony and wild fig trees, the lodge offers a haven just outside the centre of Kasane, with panoramic views of the Chobe River. Accommodation consists of eleven charming thatched chalets on stilts with full en-suite facilities, ceiling fan, mosquito nets and tea and coffee making facilities. Each chalet has a view of the river and it is an excellent choice for families offering several family chalets and warm hospitality.
The main lodge facilities include a bar, restaurant, curio shop and a secluded swimming pool. There is also a nature trail for bird watching enthusiasts. The lodge co-ordinates game viewing activities which can include game drives into the Chobe National Park and boat cruises on the Chobe River and a nature trail for bird watching enthusiasts. The Chobe National Park is famous for having the highest density of elephants in the world and you will often see large herds congregating along the River. It is also home to a high buffalo and lion population which can provide dramatic game viewing. In addition to a variety of predators, there is an abundance of wild game and bird life which decorate these beautiful waterways.
Day 7-8: Zambezi Sun, Livingstone, Zambia
After breakfast the guests will be transferred by road and boat to the Zambezi Sun Hotel in Livingstone (approximately 2 hour transfer) where they will stay for 2 nights. The Zambezi Sun Hotel is located on the eastern side of the Victoria Falls (one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World) on the Zambian side. The Resort Complex is built along the edge of the Zambezi River and guests have direct access to the Victoria Falls on foot. A vast number of activities can be arranged at the activity centre at the hotel, including elephant back safaris, white water rafting, Zambezi river cruises, bungi jumping, helicopter flights just to name a few.
The hotel has the feel of a century’s old walled city and comprises of open, organic buildings in earthy colors with rambling clusters of rooms. The 212 guest rooms open and airy, and are decorated in an African style. Room facilities include an en suite bathroom, a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, an Internet connection, a king-size bed, a hire safe and central heating. The rooms either spill outwards into the natural African bush, or face inwards into a vast, cool, landscaped pool with private, shaded balconies offering guests a place to unwind, relax and enjoy Africa’s greatest natural wonder.The Restaurant and bar area are in the centre of the hotel next to a curving swimming pool.
Day 9: Safari Ends in Livingstone. After the breakfast the guests will be transferred to Livingstone airport, for their onward travel arrangements.
