Get to know all about Portugal ́s unique Port Wine while biking in the historic Douro region of Portugal, the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. The Douro landscape reflects its ancient and deep connection with the wine culture, creating an amazing picture of Man and Nature working side by side in search of the perfect wine.

Itinerary:
Day 01. Porto. Transfer to Vila real. Bike fit and briefing. Overnight in Vila Real.

Day 02. Cycling Tour 1: Vila Real - Pinhão (37,6 km). Enjoy great views of Port Wine vineyards along the bicycle route that takes you to Pinhão. Pinhão is located at the con"uence of the Douro and Pinhão rivers. This small town is the epicentre of the Port winemaking area, and a place where the soil and climatic conditions are considered to be at their very best. Overnight in Pinhão.

Day 03. Cycling Tour 2: Pinhão - Penajóia (39,5 km). Today you will ride all day along the Douro river. Quinta do Seixo is one of the most important wine farms of the region. This farm is located just outside Pinhão and produces Sandeman port wine. Overnight in Penajóia.

Day 04. Cycling Tour 3: Penajóia - Anreade (22,8 km). Today’s ride will take you again along the Douro river with spectacular views over the valley. You will ride in higher roads on the slopes of the river. Overnight in Anreade.

Day 05. Cycling Tour 4: Anreade - Porto Antigo (20,6 km). Once again you will pass along the river, and you will pass as well by Caldas de Aregos thermal stations that attract many people. Your final destination is Quinta da Ventuzela, a Manor House from the mid 17th century. It imposes its majestic presence over the Douro Valley, in a lovely region of unique characteristics and unique beauty. The Quinta was completely renovated in order to regain and invigorate all of the normal functions of a traditional Quinta of the Douro region, creating a symbiosis between tradition and modernity. Overnight in Porto Antigo.

Day 06. Cycling Tour 5: Quinta da Ventuzela - Entre-os-Rios (20,6 km). On today’s ride you will cross the river to the north bank passing by the Carrapetelo dam. After the dam, there is a hard climb all the way to Penha Longa. From here the route gets easier and passes by Entre-os-Rios (“in between the rivers”). This small village is located on the con"uence of the rivers Tâmega and Douro. Overnight in Entre-os-Rios.

Day 07. Cycling Tour 6: Entre-os-Rios - Porto (38,2 km). Today will be the last cycling day. Porto is our final destination. This gracious capital of the north is Portugal’s second largest city and a thriving industrial hub, successfully blending commercial efficiency with an atmosphere of unpretentious charm. Magnificently situated on the great gorge of the River Douro, which spills into the Atlantic after its scenic 927 km journey from Spain, the ‘granite city’ is best known for its striking bridges and the much celebrated Port wine, which is stored and savoured by wine lovers all over the world. Overnight in Porto.

Day 08. Return. Morning van transfer to Porto’s airport.
