Day 1: Depart Cape Town on the Rovos Rail Edwardian Train Safari. Arrive in Matjiesfontein, Eastern Cape in time to explore this Victorian village before dinner and overnight on the train.

Day 2: Arrive in Kimberley and visit the Big Hole and Diamond Museum. Depart Kimberley at 4 pm continue journey overnight to Pretoria, Central Park Station.

Day 3: Arrive in Pretoria. Light lunch followed by a city tour of Pretoria. Travel overnight to Zeerust. Situated on the far northern border of South Africa lies a beautiful area known as the Great Marico and it is in this spectacular setting, in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, that you will enjoy a two night stay on full board at this 5-star, privately owned Tau Game Lodge.

The lodge was built in 1995 and overlooks a vast natural waterhole, which attracts a variety of game, as does the diverse vegetation that thrives in the fertile topsoil. The jumbled hillocks of Tshwene-Tshwene and the dramatic ridge of the Dwarsberg Mountains expose rocks of up to 2630 million years old and artifacts of the Stone and Iron Ages are still found in the Great Marico dust.

Days 4-5: Early in the morning proceed on a game drive. In the evening will be a game drive or other guest activities. Overnight at Tau Game Lodge.

Day 6: Early morning game drive. Transfer to the train for a 12:00 am departure from Gaborone, Botswana. Border formalities en route.

Day 7: After border formalities travel through Zimbabwe with morning and afternoon lectures provided by the historian.

Day 8: Arrive at the Victoria Falls. Transfer from Station to the Victoria Falls Hotel. At 4 pm sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The African Spectacular Show, is optional. Dinner, and overnight at the Hotel. Includes: (D).

Day 9: Today we offer you a lot of options to spend the day. For example we may have a tour of the Falls, arrange a Game of golf, flight of the Angels. Flying lower than a conventional, fixed-wing aircraft, you will fly a complete circuit over the Falls in both directions, giving you the best views of the Falls. A quick trip up river and back over the Zambezi National park completes your flight. The Game Flight option is the same as the “Flight of Angels”, but with a longer flying time, with the express purpose of spotting game.

30-minutes of airtime takes you firstly over the Falls and then up river and over the Zambezi National Park. The best times for the game flight are early morning and late afternoon. Whilst we cannot guarantee that you will spot game, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, rhino and giraffe can all be found in the Zambezi National Park and can be seen from the air. Transfer to the station for a 3 pm departure from the Victoria Falls for Zimbabwe and Zambian border formalities.

Day 10: Pass through Lusaka. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board with lectures in the morning and afternoon. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

There is a rain forest on the Western Bank. The Bemba people regard the Chishimba Falls as one of the most sacred places of power. The nature spirit Chishimba resides in the cave below the Falls which is a place of prayer and honour. No insults, curses, words of vengeance or hatred may be uttered in the vicinity of the caves. At 4:15 pm arrive at Nakonde/Tunduma for Zambian/Tanzanian border formalities. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
