Day 1: Arusha. This attractive little town is situated in a beautiful, mountainous region. It nestles at the foot of Mount Meru and offers fantastic views of the towering Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest mountain). Overnight: Arusha Coffee Lodge.
Days 2 & 3: Remote and romantic, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in this game-rich national park. Cradled in the boughs of ancient mahogany trees, ten stilted treehouse suites blend intimacy and romance in cool, leafy surrounds. Overnight: Lake Manyara Tree Lodge Manyara National Park.
Days 4 - 6: Serengeti. Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is set in the remote reaches of the Park, on a bywater of the Grumeti River, known for its wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile crocodiles. Tucked into a strip of riverine forest, guests thrill to the antics of spectacular pied colobus monkeys (found nowhere else in the Serengeti) and enjoy nocturnal serenades by orchestras of owls and bushbabies.
Every year between June and July, Africa’s annual Great Migration passes through Grumeti, and hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores cross the Grumeti River, risking the jaws of some of Africa’s largest crocodiles. Overnight: Grumeti River lodge.
Days 7 - 9: These luxurious tented camps move around the Park year round, bringing guests within reach of the Great Migration and exploring remote, beautiful corners of the Serengeti with excellent resident game. Using only private campsites, these migratory camps are entirely intimate and exclusive, featuring Tanzania’s most spacious safari tents, each with double bed, ensuite bathroom, separate w.c. and al fresco bucket shower. Overnight in Style “Under Canvas” in the heart of the Serengeti.
Days 10 & 11: Crater Rim. It has been called the game lodge at the end of the world and, between the spectacular views swirling through mists around the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and its somewhat unexpected architecture, it is easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy. Steeped in romance, each stilted, handcrafted mud and thatch suite is adorned with graceful antiques. En suite bathrooms, with a centerpiece of fresh roses, feature huge showers and chandelier-lit bathtubs, while floor-to-ceiling windows ensure breathtaking views from everywhere. Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
Day 12: Overnight in Oyster Bay Hotel, Dar es Salaam.
Days 13 - 15: Far off the beaten track, these remote camps, in the spectacular north of the diverse Selous Game Reserve, provide an unmatched game experience. Explore Africa’s largest protected wildlife area by 4x4 safari vehicle, on foot and by boat as you traverse through grass plains, flourishing wetlands, swamps and dense forest. Witness the congregation of game along the banks of the Rufiji River, with its lagoons, sand banks and lakes. Birding enthusiasts will delight in the variety of bird species found along the river's banks. Expect attention-to-detail service, breathtaking landscapes and exceptional accommodation. Overnight: Sand Rivers, Selous Game Reserve.
Day 16: Depart Selous for Dar es Salaam. Home departure. End of the service.
