We’ll leave after an early breakfast to take the journey from Kampala through Uganda’s beautiful green undulating countryside to Masindi and on to the Murchison Falls National Park, spotting game en route. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge/Sambiya Lodge/Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 2: Game Drive and Launch Cruise. In the early morning have a cup of coffee or tea then have the first scenic game drive in the park. Our ranger will help us view the extraordinary variety of wildlife living here, including Uganda kob, elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, a vast variety of birds and much more. After a substantial lunch, we’ll take an amazing launch trip to the foot of the Murchison Falls.
We’ll see pods of hippos, crocs, and vast numbers of exotic birds and butterflies. There are over 300 varieties of birds and myriads of wildlife that come to the water to drink (often including herds of elephants). We’ll hopefully see the legendary shoebill stork. The waterfall itself is one of Africa’s wonders- the Victoria Nile bursts majestically through a seven-meter gap to an awesome forty meter drop. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge/Sambiya Lodge/Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 3: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and overnight at Fort Portal. After a substantial breakfast we will start our journey to the south west of Uganda. En route we will pass by the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a spectacular view of the large mammals. We’ll have a picnic lunch past Lake Albert towards the legendary “Mountains of The Moon”. We’ll arrive at the delightful tea plantation town of Fort Portal in the foothills of the mountains. Dinner and overnight at Mountains of the Moon Hotel/Ruwenzori View Guesthouse.
Day 4: Chimp Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Another very early departure-but well worth it! We’re on our way to Kibale Forest with its enormous number of primates and its families of habituated chimpanzees. It is home to an astonishing 12 species of primates. We’ll have a guided forest walk, as we look out for chimps, red, white, and black Columbus,grey-cheeked mangabey monkeys and many more.
The bird life is impressive with at least 325 species, and over 144 species of butterfly. Kibale, with its ancient trees up to 55 meters in height, is a wonderful place to experience the extraordinary diversity of life in a tropical rainforest. After the walk, we’ll head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight at Katara Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp/Institute of Ecology.
Day 5: Game Drive and Launch Cruise. We’ll take an early morning game drive around the park. Look out for the prides of lions and herds of elephant. Buffaloes, bushbucks, kobs, and giant forest hogs are aplenty! Upon return to the lodge we will have a substantial breakfast. In the afternoon we’ll take the launch trip to explore the Kazinga Channel.
Here we’ll see scores of hippos and buffaloes close to the waterside, as well as elephants. The birdlife on the water is fascinating and we’ll see dozens of bee-eaters and pied kingfishers. Dinner and overnight at Katara Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp/Institute of Ecology.
