Salta is known as “La Linda” (the Beauty) for its gorgeous appearance. It is one of the Argentine cities that still preserves its colonial atmosphere, and is located in an altitude of 1200 meters and surrounded by hills. The city is the perfect place to start your adventures in the northwest of the country, a region that offers amazing natural spots (gorges, valleys, high plains, salt flats, etc) and multiple colors rock shapes combined with the local culture of people who still maintain ancient practices.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Upon arrival in Salta, you will be taken to the hotel. We highly recommend you to take a city tour, which will show the most beautiful parts of town.

Day 2: We depart early on a full day excursion safari to the clouds in a four-wheel drive vehicle, which follows the famous railway track of the "Train to the Clouds" through the "Quebrada del Toro" (Bull’s Gorge) to San Antonio de los Cobres. Then, through the Puna, it goes along route 40 to "Salinas Grandes" (Salt Lakes) in Jujuy. At the end of the ride, you will take the downhill trip of Lipan to the picturesque village of Purmamarca, at the foot of the Mount of the Seven Colors. We return to Salta in the evening.

Day 3: We will take a trip to Humahuaca Valley, where you can see great landscapes fulfill of rivers, hills, willows, cactus and wild flowers. On our way we pass by towns of great importance during the pre-Spaniards and colonial time. These towns have prevailed but remain as small and quiet towns, such as Vulcan, Tumbaya, Maimara, and Purmamarca, at the base of the wonderful hill “Cerro de los Siete Colores” (Mountain of the Seven Colors). Then we will visit Tilcara and the Pucará ruins, age-old aboriginal fortress strategically located and surrounded by colorful hills and cactus. We return to Salta in the afternoon through the sinuous mountain road. From here we can appreciate the wonderful rain forest of the area of Las Yungas.

Day 4: This day is free to spend as you like. We highly recommend a safari tour to Cafayate/Quilmas or to Cachi.

Day 5: We will take you back to the airport or bus terminal. You can continue your trip to for instance Iguazu Falls or Patagonia, or you can extent your stay in Salta.
