Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival/transfer to hotel in Tunis.

Day 2: Tunis - Carthage - Sidi Bousaid. Start off to Carthage to learn about the history of this most noted of Roman and Carthaginian in North Africa. Continue to the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, which is noted for its Andalusian style architecture. Visit the medina of Tunis, which is the oldest part of Tunis and within the walls of the original city of Tunis. The visit includes a walk through the medina to explore some historical monuments, as well as an opportunity to explore the souks, or marketplace.
Overnight in Tunis

Day 3: Tunis - Dougga - El Kef. Drive to the magnificent Roman city of Dougga perched on a plateau surrounded by fertile land fed by abundant springs. The capitol, dedicated to Jupiter, Juno and Minerva in 166 AD is arguably the most beautiful Roman monument in North Africa. Continue to le Kef, take a sightseeing tour around Le Kef, (The Rock). The city clings to Jebel Dyr – the largest mountain in the region. From its Kasbah, a beautifully preserved fortress, are commanding views over the plains. Some scattered remains date back to the Roman period including a Christian basilica, a synagogue and the museum of popular arts. Overnight in Le Kef.

Day 4: El Kef - Gafsa - Tozeur. Drive to Tozeur via Gafsa. Installation in Tozeur. The remainder of your afternoon and evening is free to enjoy Tozeur. Lunch in Tamerza. Visit the set of the ‘Star Wars’ village. Overnight in Tozeur.

Day 5: Tozeur - Douz - Matmata. Return to Tozeur, walk through the old town. Departure to Douz via the Chott-el-Jerid, Tunisia's salt lake.Douz is the door to the desert Sahara, where we will enjoy a camel ride the vastness of the Sahara. Lunch and departure to Matmata. This area is one of the most famous sites in Tunisia due to its ‘invisible village’ first recorded in the 4th century. Camouflaged by the sandy pockmarked landscape and situated within craters, you can find around 50 or so underground dwellings. Overnight in Matmata.

Day 6: Matmata – Sfax - El Jem – Kairouan. We head for Sfax, where we have lunch. En route we visit the magnificent amphitheatre in El Djem, second only to that of Rome, which looms unexpectedly out of the plains rich in olive groves. The olives were the wealth of the region and commercialization of olive oil led to 'Thysdrus' becoming an important and prosperous trading centre for agricultural products. The huge amphitheatre, larger than those at Nimes and Arles, was constructed with stone from quarries over 30 kilometers away! Later we travel on to Tunisia's second city of Sfax. Departure to Kairouan, where we overnight.

Day 7: Kairouan - Hammamet - Tunis. This morning we visit most important monuments in this holiest city in Tunisia. Departure to Hammamet for lunch, walk in the marina and panoramic tour of the village. Departure to Tunis. End of the tour.
