Day 1: Arrival. Upon arrival into the Tocumen International Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel in Panama City. At night we will pick you up and take you out to dinner at a Panamanian style restaurant where we will go over the itinerary, answer any last minute questions, and toast for the beginning of a great trip: Salud! Lodging: Comfortable Hotel in Panama City. Meals: Dinner.
Day 2: Cave Exploration. After breakfast, we drive to an authentic indigenous village on the shores of Lake Bayano where we board the boats and navigate to the entrance of the caves. Once at the caves the real adventure begins. You will immediately feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins as you walk deep into this underground river and start appreciating the most spectacular rock formations.
After a couple of hours of heart pumping fun, we'll break for lunch and relax in an open area surrounded by huge stone walls, gorgeous forest and a lagoon, where everyone is invited for a swim. Late afternoon we drive up to the Continental Divide and to the border with the Kuna Yala autonomous territory. We will spend the night in the park ranger station in the middle of the rainforest. Lodging: Park ranger station on Continental Divide. No electricity. Very rustic. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 3: Kuna Yala Culture. Prepare yourself for the cultural experience of your life. We start the day early with a ride from the Continental Divide to the Caribbean coast, where a boat will be waiting for us to take us to the hotel. On this day you will have the opportunity to learn about the traditions of the Kunas and visit some of the most beautiful islands in the world that is: small white sand islands filled with palm trees, looking just like taken out of a dream. Once at the islands, you can swim in the crystal clear waters or do some snorkeling and be surprised by the indescribable beauty that lies underwater. The scenery this night will be surreal, with millions of stars filling the sky. Lodging: Rustic hotel in one of the Islands. Limited electricity. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 4: Countryside, Canal and Wildlife. After waking up to the sounds of the waves on the Caribbean, we have breakfast, and get on the boat heading back to the coast, where the 4x4's will be ready to take us up and down the mountains arriving back in Panama City before lunch. Then we will go to the Gamboa area for a boat ride in the Panama Canal, including a wild life safari where we might be able to see monkeys, iguanas, toucans and many other animals. Then, after lunch we will be back on the road, we will cross the bridge over the Canal and drive west on the Pan-American Highway to get a glimpse of this side of the Panamanian countryside, making stops along the way to try local snacks and take photos of the beautiful scenery. Lodging: Comfortable small town hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
Day 5: High Land Waterfalls/Organic Farm. Aboard our 4x4 expedition vehicles we will visit a secluded organic farm high up in the mountains. The friendly family that lives and work here will give you a welcome with a smiling face and an abundance of the fresh produce. They have anything from sugar cane, coffee and cacao, to tomatoes, bananas, and pineapples. The setting of this place is unbelievable, as the waterfalls abound in their backyard. So, besides from experiencing life on this off the beaten path location, you will have the opportunity to hike through lush jungle and visit some waterfalls, most of them with the conveniently located natural stone pool at the bottom inviting everyone for a swim. Lodging: Rustic mountain town hotel in the mountains. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 6: Pacific Side Beach Day. After breakfast we will leave the mountain town and on the way back to Panama City we will stop to visit Santa Clara beach in the Pacific side of Panama. Here we will relax on the beach and will have a delicious lunch enjoying the ocean view. We can take a refreshing swim in the ocean or can simply take a nap on a hammock while surrendering to the ocean breeze. Lodging: Comfortable Hotel in Panama City. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
Day 7: Departure. After an amazing trip, we will drive you to the International Airport for your return flight home. Meals: Breakfast.
