The South West Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park is the finest preserved stretch of European coastline, covering over 100 km (62mi), from Porto Covo in Alentejo, to Burgau in Algarve. The Park includes various unique species of animal and plant life, and is visited by many zoologists and botanists from all parts of the world.

The landscape is marked by steep cliffs, represented in the Park's logo, that have been shape with various forms and colouring by centuries of erosion. Many bird species can be seen such as the rare fishing eagles. The rarest specie is the white stork, given that this is the only place in the world where they build their nests in the seashore cliffs. Another rarity is the otter, since this is the only place in Portugal and one of the last places in Europe where it is possible to find otters in a marine habitat.

The beaches are highly popular among surfers, and are the finest in the country. There is a tremendous variety of beaches, including long stretches of sand and small beaches nestled between the cliffs and rocks. The long list includes beaches such as Porto Covo, Malhão, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Almograve, Monte Clérigo, Arrifana and Praia do Amado. Their beauty will amaze you.

Today we have a unique offer for you, a mix of hills and beaches, with a variety of fauna and flora. The trail starts in the dunes of Carrapateira beach, then goes along the coastal plateau all the way to Amado beach, where you can see a large number of Seabirds that nest, or that pass through here during migration, and a large number of white stork nests in the rocky cliffs, something unique in the world. From Praia do Amado, the trail continues towards the interior, and the landscape begins to change. Gradually species such as mastic trees, the white-leaved rockrose, the sage-leaf rockrose and cork-oaks begin to appear. Lodging: Aldeia da Pedralva.

Day 3: Walking - Trail of Aromas (14 km/8,7 mi, 4h30). The trail starts at Ribeira da Bordeira, near the village of Bordeira. The fauna is varied: here can be found the typical species of Mediterranean scrubland – wild boar, Iberian hare, European rabbit, great tit, common quail, red-legged partridge, common buzzard or the mongoose among others. After the Ribeira do Tacual you enter a valley, the landscape changes and you come across areas of olive trees and wild junipers.

On the way back to the starting point of the trail and as you pass through Bordalete, you will see a wide variety of plants which, as throughout the walk, do full justice to the name of this trail (Aromas trail).
