Day 1: Arrival in Dakar. Immigration and customs formalities meet our guide and transfer to your hotel in Dakar. Spend a free day, overnight at your hotel Djoloff in Dakar
Day 2: Dakar City tour. Start a tour of Dakar with its main markets. Visit Kermel Market, Sandaga Market, stop at the President’s Palace and admire its red Spahi guards, stop at the Parliament House, the Cathedral and the Great Mosque. Visit the University going through the residential district of Fann showing the new Senegalese architecture style. Stop at the Millennium Door, one of the newest monuments of Dakar and go through the picturesque district of Medina. In the afternoon, take a boat ride to Goree Island where you will arrive after 20 minutes. Visit the House of Slaves where the curator will deliver a lecture on “300 years of Slave Trading in West Africa.” Visit the ethnographic museum, the Fort and the Memorial of Goree. Stop at the Governor’s Palace and take some time for shopping at the little market of Goree. Return to your hotel in Dakar or Hotel Djoloff or a similar.
Day 3: Dakar/ Saint Louis. Leave Dakar for Saint Louis. On the way, you will visit Pink Lake Retba, meet the “Salt Lake harvesters” drawing salt from the lake, visit the Fulani village on the north bank of the lake. Proceed to Saint Louis, visiting some traditional Wolof villages. Arrive in Saint Louis towards the end of the day. Welcome dinner and overnight at Hotel Cap or a similar in Saint Louis. Day 4: Saint Louis. Leave the hotel for a tour of Saint Louis – former capital of Senegal and all French West African settlements. You will admire the charming beauty of this colonial styled city. The historic center of Saint Louis will be visited in horse-drawn carriage. Stop at the Governor’s Palace, visit the fishermen district of Guet Ndar, the district of Ndar Toute with its market, the handicraft village. At noon, proceed by motor canoe to “Langue de Barbarie” Bird Sanctuary, one of the most important ornithological sites of the world. You will admire this beautiful nature reserve between the Atlantic Ocean and the Senegal River. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Le Cap or a similar. Includes: (B).
Day 5: Saint Louis/ Kaolack. Early morning, leave Saint Louis for Kaolack. On the way, you will visit some weekly village markets gathering thousands of villagers, visit villages of various ethnic groups, visit Kaolack and its market famous for its medicinal herbs and its African fabrics. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 6: Kaolack-Banjul: 7-10 AM. Kaolack – Alliance Franco-Senegalese, Town Hall, Cathedral, Market, Clock Tower, Grand Mosque, Saloum River: Kaolack – Toubakouta (70 km): Toubakouta – lunchtime, boat trip. Toubakouta – Karang (23 km): Senegal – Gambia border formalities: Amdallai – Barra (21 km): 3:30-3:50 PM. Barra - Banjul via the ferry (5 km): Banjul city tour - Arch 22, Independence Drive, July 22 Square, Albert Market, Old Town.Check-in to Laico Atlantic Hotel: 4 Banjul - Arch 22, Independence Drive, July 22 Square, Albert Market, Old Town: 4:40-6:30 PM. Dinner in the hotel or city restaurant.
Day 7: Banjul. On board a yacht you travel to Albreda and Juffure passing Dog Island. Stop at James Island where you visit the remains of the slave stores and the governor’s house, before continuing to Albreda, a major groundnut trading place. A 15-minute walk brings you to Juffure the ancestral village of Alex Haley, the author of the best-seller “Roots”, and the home of “Kunta Kinteh’s family.” On your way lunch and drinks will be served on board. Return to Banjul in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Atlantic. Includes: (B). There are two options to visit the Juffureh village on day 6th or 7th that will depend on you and your guide.
Day 8: Banjul – Abuko (18 km): 7:15-7:45 AM. Abuko – hamlet, nature reserve: 7:45-9:45 AM. Abuko – Jiboro (35 km): 9:45-10:20 AM. Gambia - Senegal border formalities: 10:20-11:00 AM. Seleti – Ziguinchor (96 km): 11:00 AM-12:40 PM. Ziguinchor – lunchtime, colonial architecture, Casamance River: 12:40-1:50 PM. Ziguinchor – Bissau (19 km): 1:50-2:10 PM. Senegal – Guinea-Bissau border formalities: 2:10-2:50 PM. Sao Domingos – Bissau (125 km): 2:50-4:30 PM. Azalai Hotel 24 De Setembro Check-in to : 4:30-4:40 PM.
Day 9: Bissau: visit of Bissau – Avenida Amilcar Cabral, Cathedral, Bissau Velho, Fortaleza d'Amura, Pidjiguiti Monument, Square of National Heroes, canoe to the island to admire the beautiful sunset, return to Bissau. Dinner in the hotel or city restaurant: 6:30-8:00 PM.
Day 10: Bissau – Safin-Banbadinca-Saltignou-Kountabany-Kamzar 7:00-10:40 AM. Guinea-Bissau – lunctime in Kountabany, Guinea border formalities then drive to Boke museum for your overnight at your hotel in Hotel Oceane Plus Kamzar, Picnic.
Day 11: Kamzar – Conakry: Breakfast and drive to Conakry,Check-in to Marietou Palace then Dinner in the hotel or city restaurant: 6.30-8 PM. Overnight at Marietou Palace in Conakry.
Day 12: Visit of Conakry. Visit of Conakry – Oppo Atelier, North Corniche, and Cathedral Sainte-Marie: Palais de Nations, South Corniche, Port de Boulbinet, National Museum, Grand Mosque. Dinner in the hotel or city restaurant: 6.30-8 PM. Overnight at Marietou Palace in Conakry.
Day 13: Conakry –Freetown: Conakry – Pamelap (127 km): Guinea – Sierra Leone border formalities: drive to Tagugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary do an afternoon tour back to Freetown for your overnight Dinner in the Hotel Royal Kingdom or city restaurant in Freetown
Day 14: Freetown. State House, Tower Hill, Victoria Park, Parliament, Aberdeen, Lumley Beach: 7:00-10:00 AM. Freetown –Cotton Tree, King's Yard Gate, Government Wharf, Old Wharf Steps, St. George's Cathedral, and lunch time and enjoy the beach in the afternoon PM. Dinner in the hotel or city restaurant: Hotel Royal Kingdom or city restaurant in Freetown.
Day 15: Freetown – Kenema 300 km. Breakfast and drive to Kenema is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Sierra Leone. The city is home to all of the country's ethnic groups, though the Mende people make up the largest ethnic group, overnight at Ericson Guest House or a similar.
Day 16: Kenema-Monrovia Sierra Leone – Liberia border formalities: Kenema– Monrovia: Check-in to Krystal Oceanview Hotel (Mamba Point): Monrovia – Monument to Joseph Roberts, Masonic Temple, Catholic Cathedral: 5:30-6:40 PM. Dinner in the hotel or city restaurant: 6:40-8:00 PM.
Day 17: Monrovia – UN Drive, Mamba Point, Waterside Market, Broad Street, And National Museum: 7:00-9:00 AM. Monrovia – Gbarnga (197 km): 9:00 AM-1:20 PM. Day 18: Ganta-Man. Breakfast in the early morning drive to Liberia – Ivorian border formalities, arrival in Man, Point of view in Mont Tokui, down to see to the Cascade, the sacred Park, overnight at Hôtel les Cascades or Hotel Amointrin.
Day 19: Man-Yamoussoukro. Breakfast and drive to Yakro, tour of Yamoussoukro, the administrative and political capital of Cote d'Ivoire, Overnight at your Hotel Includes: (B)
Day 20: Yamoussoukro-Abidjan. Breakfast and drive to Abidjan, visit of some villages on route, arrival and overnight at your hotel Ibis Plateau or a similar.
Day 21: Abidjan. Spend the whole day free, do your last shopping and drive to the airport for your departure to Dakar, end of our services.
