Day 1: Leave Dhaka very early in the morning around 7 am for a scenic drive through picturesque rural landscape to Dinajpur. This will be minimum 7 hours drive. Lunch at a highway restaurant. Upon arrival at Dinajpur check-in to hotel and freshen up. Visit the King’s palace (Rajbari-18th century), one of the most striking historic buildings in North Bengal, and Ramsagar, the largest man-made pond of the country. If the time and situation permits have a short visit of Dinajpur city. Overnight at Dinajpur.

Day 2: You will start this day by visiting Kantajees Temple (also known as Kantanagar Temple), the most spectacular Hindu temple and one of the most beautiful monuments in Bangladesh, is only a 25 km drive from Dinajpur. After visiting this temple with infinite panels of intricately sculptured terra cotta plaques, drive to Paharpur. Dating from the 8th century AD, the Somapui Vihara in Paharpur is considered the most impressive and important archaeological site in Bangladesh and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once the largest Buddhist monastery south of the Himalayas. Lunch at a local restaurant in Joypurhat.

After lunch continue drive towards Bogra to visit the oldest known city in Bangladesh. Mahasthangarh, dating back to at least the 3rd century BC, is located only 14 km from Bogra town. Today the archaeological site consists mainly of foundations and hillocks hinting at the past glory. In the Mahasthangarh Site Museum an interesting collection of recovered pieces is on display. Continue drive to Bogra, check-in to hotel.

If time permits, a visit to Bogra town and the Nawab Syed Abdus Sobhan Chowdhury Palace Museum, one of the only furnished Rajbaris in Bangladesh, is suggested. And before leaving Bogra, you must taste the famous Bogura-r-Mistee Dhoi (sweet curd)! Overnight in Bogra. Bangladesh’s rich heritage is visually represented most strikingly in greater North Bengal. Remains of ancient Buddhist monasteries, intricately decorated temples and mosques are reminders of our country’s diverse cultures and history. Our tours combine historical sites with the popular trademarks of this region – silk, sweets and mangoes, ensuring a truly insightful experience for our guests.
