Day 1: Morning arrival in Yerevan - Transfer to the Hotel, Check – in, unpack, rest. Yerevam city tour - Republic Square, Erebuni Museum, Tsitsernakaberd memorial and museum to the 1915 Genocide, Sports and Concert Complex, Kievian Bridge, Bagramyan Avenue, Presidential Palace, Academy of Sciences, National Parliament, Opera Theater, “Victory” Park with panoramic view of Yerevan and Mt. Ararat, Mesrop Mashtots avenue, Matenadaran - Depository and Museum of ancient manuscripts. Lunch in Yerevan – Armenian Traditional Restaurant.
Day 2: Breakfast served. Visit to Garni – the Pagan Temple of Hellenistic Style 1st century AD, wonderful canyon of Garni and old bridge, Geghard – Cave monastery – architectural complex in the 12-13th century-cut in one monolithic rock. During today’s tour we’ll see Lake Sevan: “The emerald of Armenia”, and the biggest lake in present-day Armenia. Set some 1900m above sea level, Lake Sevan is situated high in the mountains and is famed for its glorious and ever changing hues.
Upon arrival, we will stop by the lakeside churches at the top of the peninsula, and have a chance to admire a spectacularly picturesque scene overlooking the lake and distant mountains. There is a story which tells us that a famous archimandrite had a vision, in which the twelve Apostles gave their blessing to this land and instructed the building of churches on this island. Indeed the vision became true. The churches were built and one of them was named after the apostles - St. Araqelots Church. Lunch in Sevan. Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3: Breakfast served and Check out from the Hotel Ashtarak – where you can find numerous churches or various ancient buildings at any step; Artashavan – New Complex of Armenian Letters: “It is difficult to express the deep feeling Armenians have for their language, which many regard as the lifeblood of their culture”; Saghmosavank Monastery perch on the edge of the precipitous gorge of the Kasakh river. Amberd fortress near the Aragats slopes – Lunch in Amberd Aragats Mountain – Dinner and Overnight in Aragats (camp).
Day 4: Breakfast served. Aragats Mountain – Aragats is consist from the 4 peak. The Highest peak is Northern. If the weather allow us to climb northern peak, we will have one extra night in Aragats, otherwise is possible to climb southern peak and be over with Mt. Aragats at the same day. Lunch. Dinner and overnight in Vanadzor city of Lory region.
Day 5: Breakfast served, check out. Lori region is located in the northern part of Armenia and is the biggest one among its 11 regions. Kubayr is one of the most significant monuments of medieval Armenian architecture, the site is connected with the princes’ families of Bagratidi and Kurikidi. Wonderful monastery Haghpat – the 1-st UNESCO heritage in Armenia. Lunch in Alaverdy. Arrive Georgian border/Bagratashen. Custom formalities. Meeting with Georgian representatives. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 6: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Ananuri - Gudauri - Kazbegi. After the breakfast drive to Khevi province via Georgian Military Highway – a picturesque road with great nature variety mentioned by Strabo in I c. AD. An ancient capital of Georgia- Mtskheta –UNESCO site is located along this road. En route visit Ananuri Architectural complex - former residence of Dukes of Argveti region.
Complex featuring churches and towers dating back to the XVI-XVII cc. is beautifully overlooking Jinvali reservoir. Lunch at the local restaurant where the guests can try ‘Khinkali’-boiled meat dumplings, as this region is well-known for its ‘Khinkali masters’. In the afternoon arrive Kazbegi passing Early in the morning drive to Kazbegi passing through the highest point of Georgian Military Highway-Cross Pass at 2379 m. above sea level.
En-route make a stop at the mineral water spring flowing down from a hilltop. Arrive Kazbegi – a small town with the views of Mt. Kazbek (or Mkinvari) 5033 m. - the seventh highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. Mt. Kazbek is associated with myth of Prometheus, according to the legend he was chained on the mountain in punishment for having stolen fire from the gods and having given it to mortals. If time permits - trek (about 1 hr) to XIV c. Gergeti Holy Trinity Church located at an elevation of 2170 m under Mt. Kazbegi. Overnight in Kazbegi.
Days 7-10: Kazbegi. Meals full board. Kazbegi mountain climbing.
Day 11: Kazbegi - Tbilisi. Arrive Tbilisi. Free time. Farewell dinner.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 12: Departure. Check-out. Drive Tbilisi airport.
