This belongs to the Buganda kingdom, which existed long before the first European explorers came in search of the Nile. In the afternoon, travel to Jinja to see the source of the Nile, where the Victoria Nile leaves Lake Victoria on its 3-month 6500 km travel to the Mediterranean Sea. Later, visit Bujagali Falls, travel back to Kampala for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda. After breakfast, drive to northwestern Uganda moving through a series of districts with fertile soils, farmland, woodland and papyrus swamps. In most savanna areas you will notes herds of Ankole cattle with magnificent horns. Get a break in Masindi town for lunch. In the afternoon continue to Murchison Falls. On your way you will go through open savanna woodland and extensive grassland. The drive on the southern bank of the Nile is more or less a vegetarian safari because animals can’t cross the Victoria Nile. Pass into the park via the top of Murchison Falls where the White Nile is funneled into a 7 metre wide rock gorge on its way to Lake Albert. Arrive in time to check in at your pre-booked lodge.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda. Early morning (6:30) take a game drive. Via a panoramic view dotted with Borassus Palms, see herds of buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffe, elephants, prides of lions, Heartebeasts, Oribis, Kobs, Waterbucks, etc. Arrive back in time for a late breakfast. In the afternoon at 2:00 pm take a launch cruise of 3 hours along the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls. Experience up close schools of hippos basking by the Nile bank, Nile crocodile incubating eggs, lots of birds and animals watering, and the magnificent falls. Back at the lodge by 5:00 pm.

Day 4: Kibale National Park, Uganda. Depart at 7:00 am and cross to the southern bank ready to travel to Kibale Forest National Park. Drive past Lake Albert en route to Hoima. Stop at the escarpement to have a magnificent view over the lake and the distant mountains of Congo. Continue to Fort Portal for late lunch and check in at the booked hotel.

Day 5: Kibale National Park, Uganda. Travel to Kibale National Park. This is a home to the highest diversity of primates in East Africa. The park has 13 species of primate, the chimps being the chief attraction. Take a chimp walk of 3-4 hours, arrive back for lunch at 12 pm and, at 2 pm, proceed to Bigodi for a nature walk in the adjacent Magombe swamp. Here you will view different bird and monkey species. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. Depart the hotel at 7:00 am for Queen Elizabeth National Park, stopover at the Equator for pictures, proceed to Maramagambo forest for the bat cave and forest walk, and have a picnic lunch before the walk. Take an afternoon game drive through the open grassland and woodland looking for elephants, lions, giant forest hogs, Uganda Kobs, etc. Check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. Early morning drive (6:30 am) to spot the early risers like spotted hyenas, leopards and lions, etc. Be back in time for a late breakfast. At 3:00 pm take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel where you will see lots of animals watering, hippos basking and yawning, and a number of bird species at the bird sanctuary. Return to the hotel by 5 pm.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. Depart from the hotel early in the morning, traveling to Bwindi Forest through the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha sector). After breakfast be ready with your cameras, packed lunch and plenty of water, and off you go for this long anticipated day of gorilla tracking. The tracking starts at 8:30am and can take the whole day depending on where the gorillas are. After the adventure a certificate awaits the successful tracker. The day is not easy at times, but it is very worth the effort.
