We looked for less-traveled trails; we wanted to find a place where Baqueanos (cowboys) historically traveled with their livestock. These historic trails provide a hiker with a feeling of being alone with nature and allow you to see Torres del Paine from a different perspective.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: You will be greeted in the Punta Arenas airport (PUQ) and taken directly to Puerto Natales. The drive is approximately 3 hours, along the way you will be able to catch your first glimpses of guanacos and nandus. You will be taken to your accommodation and your guide will meet you for a briefing explaining the next few days and helping you with any last minute questions.

Day 2: Torres lookout - Valle Asencio You will begin the journey by first visiting the famed Torres. You will leave early in the morning from Puerto Natales and begin hiking up Almirante Mountain. You will slowly but steadily hike up admiring the gorgeous views of Lago Nordenskjold and the amazing Valley Asencio. Finally you will reach a dense Lenga forest, and hike about one hour through it. After leaving the forest, you will approach a moraine and climb to see the amazing granite peaks known as the Torres. After many pictures, a cup of tea and some time relaxing in front of the imposing peaks you will hike back down the moraine and return to Las Torres to sleep.

Day 3: Las Torres - Laguna Azul We begin the excursion on a dirt road leaving Las Torres riding from here past administration and around to a beautiful section of Torres del Paine perfect for short day hikes. You will be able to admire the typical Chilean pampas and also see how badly a fire in 2005 affected the area. We will ride by many guanacos (llamas) and hopefully see Condors and Nandus! In the evening we will arrive at our campsite in Laguna Azul and have a wonderful dinner.

Day 4: Laguna Azul - Lago Paine Today we start out on a single track from the camping site in Laguna Azul, on the east side of Torres del Paine. This is the same trail that Lady Florence Dixie mentions in her book, Across Patagonia. The trail is 18 km long; along the way we will cross numerous streams and creeks sometimes riding through them and others portering the bikes across. You will see the famous Torres distinctly from many other tourists and enjoy the rolling hills along the track. You will finish the day at a base camp set up near the remote and beautiful Lago Paine.

Day 5: Lago Paine - Refugio Dickson After a hot breakfast we will continue cycling towards Lake Dickson. You will leave Lago Paine and pedal towards Glacier Dickson. The ride today is 15 km. Today the trail will be a bit more difficult, again we will ride over and through streams and creeks. Also today we will encounter more elevation change than the previous day. Finally in the afternoon you will arrive at Refugio Dickson. We will cross a small section of the lake by boat and enjoy a nice warm bed and the views of Glacier Dickson.

Day 6: Refugio Dickson - Laguna Quemada Today you will leave your bikes for a bit of exploration on foot. Your trekking gear will have been brought to the Refugio by porters and you will start out early so that you will be able to see a unique view of Glacier Dickson and finally arrive at Laguna Quemada for lunch. If the weather is good and we are hiking at a good pace, we may even be able to continue to the international police post located on an old baqueano trail. The police located at this solitary post will most likely invite us in for a chat and later in the afternoon we will return Refugio Dickson.

Day 7: Dickson - Perros After a nice breakfast you and your guide will begin hiking! Today the trek is approximately four hours and will take you through one of the oldest forests in the park. The trail will lead you past Lengas and Coigues that grew shortly after the glaciers receded. You will see the medial moraines that mark this valley and finally you will reach the terminal moraine at the foot of Perros Glacier. Here we will set up camp, have dinner and relax.

Day 8: Perros - Grey You will wake and have breakfast in a beautiful forest. In the morning, you will start climbing a slow but steady hill for approximately 200 meters, the trail is very moist, and the beautiful Lenga and Coigue trees cover this portion of the trail also. After an hour and fifteen minutes you will reach the end of the forest and will finally begin trekking up rock slides towards the John Gardner Pass. After forty more minutes of hiking you will be able to see Glaciar Amistad, Cerro Blanco Sur, Punta Puma and finally the John Gardner Pass.

You will have an astonishing view of Glacier Grey and the Pingo and Zapata Mountain Range. After enjoying the breath-taking view you will begin hiking downhill for about two hours until you reach Camp Paso for a short rest before continuing on four more hours. As you are hiking you, with your guide, will come to two ravines. These ravines can be safely crossed by using the metal ladders that the park rangers have installed. After crossing the ravines you will continue on just a bit more until arriving at Camp Guardas, one hour from Camping Grey. You will continue on towards Camping Grey and have a nice night´s rest.

Day 9: Grey - Natales After crossing the John Gardner Pass and enjoying the back portion of the "Circuit" in Torres del Paine you will have just a morning left to relax, take pictures or go for another short hike. You will board the Grey II boat in the afternoon and enjoy your afternoon by admiring the glacier from up-close and take remarkable photographs of the surroundings. Just after 18:00 hrs you will begin your journey in bus towards Puerto Natales and arrive in time for a late dinner and a good nights rest.

Day 10: Natales - Punta Arenas Today you will take a transfer back to Punta Arenas. You will say goodbye to our staff and continue your journey home or to your next destination!

**An alternative ending would be to finish the "Circuit" (adding 3 more days) or by returning to Puerto Natales via Kayak on Rio Serrano (adding 3 more days).
