Located in western Uganda, covering an area of 120 square kilometers. Rwenzori mountain is regarded to be the legendary snow capped mountains of the moon. The park offers unique experience of afro-montane rain forest and is about 25 km from Kasese town.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival Day. On arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver/guide from Alliance Safaris & Travel Ltd, who will then transfer you to Kampala for overnight either at Serena Hotel, Common Wealth Country Resort Munyonyo (High end/luxurious accommodation), Grand Imperial Hotel, Royal Capital Palace Hotel ( Medium class accommodation), Fairway Hotel (low Budget accommodation).

Day 2: Kampala - Kasese. After breakfast and briefing from the guide, set off for Kasese arriving at Margherita Hotel in the afternoon. Your driver guide will go to the park headquarters to finalize your mountaineering activity. Dinner and overnight at either Margherita hotel (Medium class accommodation) or Rwenzori International Hotel, Virina Garden Hotel (Low budget class accommodation). Approximate driving time is about 7 - 8 hours.

Day 3: Nyabitaba Hut. This day, you will begin your hike by leaving the park headquarters 5400 ft (1,646), walking past typical "wattle and mud" Bakonzo homes and gradually moving up wards through elephant grass and garden plots. The trail follows the Mubuku River, crossing the recent landslide areas, and it involves climbing over rocks and bluff, before reaching the Mahama River in about two and half hours.

After crossing the river there will be a steep climb through open bracken fern slopes and podorcarpus Forest up to Nyabitaba hut (8,700 ft/ 2,652). During this time of hike you may be able to see chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkey, the brilliant colored Rwenzori Turaco. Overnight at Nyabitaba hut.

Day 4: Nyamuleju. After breakfast, leave Nyabitaba and hike west wards for a half a kilo metre then drop steeply to Kurt Shaffer Bridge, crossing below the confluence of the Bujuku and the Mubuku rivers. By turning right to the bridge you begin to climb the central circuit anti - clockwise since the clockwise direction is much more difficult and adds considerable danger for you and your porters.

After crossing Kurt Shaffer Bridge the muddy, Slippery trial climbs steadily up through bamboo forest. After one and half hours you encounter an area of slippery boulder hopping which some hikers consider the most difficult and dangerous footing of the circuit. Overnight at Nyamuleju hut. Nyamuleju means "a place of beards" refers to the lichen and Spanish moss draping trees near by. On a rare day, Mt. Stanley and Speke can be seen from the top of the rock near the hut.

Day 5: John Matte Hut (11,200 ft/ 3,414 m). After breakfast, you will continue to John Matte Hut which is through a tiring bog full of these extraordinary plants and the slow pace can be a delightful chance to examine and photograph this unique environment. Some hikers consider this to be the most tiring and longest day of the circuit, so an early start is important. Hikers who feel they have reached their limits by this point should consider John Matte a reasonable stopping point. You can just enjoy the view, and then the following day begin your return journey to Nyabitaba.

Day 6: Bujuku Hut. Plan to leave john Matte Camp early to have an ample time to hike through the most unique vegetation. A few steps from the camp, you will start negotiating around the boggy area till you cross river Bujuku. After crossing the river, the muddy trail will lead you reach Bigo camp and its rocky shelter which is an alternative for you to spend the night. The vegetation in and around the bog is unique, groundsel trees, giant lobelias, helichrysum flowers and huge tussocks of up to 1m high.

Day 7: Kitandara Hut. Form Bujuku hut, leave directly to newer trail which rises and falls twice before finally climbing steeply through magical moss draped groundsel vegetation to Scott Elliot pass. At the steepest section is a short strong ladder after which a right hand branch will lead to Elena Hut 14,700 ft (4,430 m). This is a steep rocky trail which when wet or icy can be slippery.

Continuining straight and a few steps below the pass, there is a sheltered spot for a break; from here, there is a second trail to the right to Elena hut. Elena is the base camp for climbing 16,763ft (5,109m) to Margherita peak in the Mt. Stanley complex, which requires an additional day or two. Overnight at Kitandara camp.

Day 8: Margherita. An early start is advisable to avoid overheating on the steep but lovely hours - long climb from the lake Kitandara which is 14,050 ft (4,282 m) to fresh field pass. Viewing westward on clear day the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and northwards Margherita and its glacier still dominates the horizon.

Day 9: Margherita. Start hiking back to park headquarters after breakfast. Begin journey early, so as to get to Nyabitaba hut before dark. In any case the path from the Guy Yeoman is quiet difficult in some spots. Overnight at Nyabitaba hut.

Day 10: Margherita. Descend to park headquarters and complete your trek in the evening. On arrival at the park Offices visit a simple restaurant for relaxation. Overnight at either Margherita hotel (Medium class accommodation) or Rwenzori International Hotel (Low budget class accommodation).

Day 11: Kasese - Queen Elizabeth National Park. After breakfast, you will leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park having a game drive on entering the park. Relax for lunch at the Mweya Safari Lodge and take a boat cruise at the Kazinga channel which joins Lake Edward and George.

You will have chances of spotting, crocodiles, Hippos, Birds, Buffalos and Elephants quenching the afternoon thirst. Over night at either Jacana Safari lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge, King Fisher Lodge (high end classic accommodation) or the Institute of Ecology Hostel.

Day 12: Queen Elizabeth - Kampala. After breakfast, take another game drive and then leave for Kampala. Lunch enroute and a brief stop at the equator for photos. Overnight at either Serena Hotel, Common Wealth Country Resort Munyonyo (High end/luxurious accommodation), Grand Imperial Hotel, Royal Capital Palace Hotel (Medium class accommodation), Fairway Hotel (low Budget accommodation).

Day 13: Departure Day, Safari Ends. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport to later catch your flight according to international flight departure times.
