Moreover, Palmarium in Ankanin’ny Nofy comes next, with 10 different lemur species. Apart from lemurs, there are myriads of outstanding flora, orchids, carnivorous plants, travelers’ trees, and rare palm-trees. Then, our expedition in Sainte Marie sets this green east trip in a premium place, being a magnificent island notable for humpback whale-watching between July and September, offering an excellent service and a chance to truly unwind for diving and snorkeling. The whales seek refuge at the sheltered waters between the island and the mainland to engage in courtship and give birth to their young. Also, Sainte Marie retains a huge wealth of orchid species diversity, including the stunning ‘Queen of Madagascar’ endemic to little Ile Aux Nattes. Historically, this is a former secret place of the pirates in the 17th century. Remains of pirate ships are laid offshore providing valuable sites for scuba divingand allowing visitors to see the pirates’ cemetery.
