Day 2: Altiplano and Atacama Desert - Santiago

Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport to take a flight to Calama. Upon arrival our guide will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to San Pedro de Atacama. It is important to remember that San Pedro lies at an average of 7,900 ft (2,407 meters) above sea level and visitors often experience mild altitude sickness (dizziness, lethargy and headaches). As for the climate, it is extremely dry and mild. Daytime temperatures range between 25-30 degrees Celsius (77-86°F) during the summer (December to February) and 18-25 degrees Celsius (64-77°F) during the winter (June to August). At night, the temperature can drop below zero and can reach as low as -10°C (14°F) in the winter.

In the afternoon our guide will pick you up from your hotel (3:00 - 4:00 PM)and take you to the famous "Valle de la Luna", the legendary moon valley surrounded by volcanic peaks that cascade as far as the eye can see. The large stone walls resemble those of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Overnight at a hotel.

Note: Our guide will confirm pick-up time for excursion in the afternoon when he drops you off at the hotel.

Day 3: Altiplano and Atacama Desert

Today, you will visit the Altiplanic Lagoons. In this excursion you will see the largest salt flat in Chile which holds the largest flamingo reserves in the country (the National Flamingo Reserve); the Miscanti and Miñiques lakes, located at 4,220 meters above see level. On the way back, travel through Socaire, a pre-Columbian town known today for its typical Atacama cuisine. The day before, our guide will establish pick-up and drop-off times from the hotel. Overnight at a hotel.

Note: Our guide will confirm pick-up/drop-off times the day before.

Day 4: Altiplano and Atacama Desert. Today you will visit the Geysers del Tatio. In this tour our guide will show you some of the highest geysers in the world! It's also the third-largest geyser site on Earth, with over 80 active ones. As the geysers are located at 4,200m above sea level please consider the following things: 1) temperatures can be terribly cold (-5ºC -15ºC) so please prepare accordingly; 2) the altitude, coupled to a steep and winding road, can easily cause height-sickness. Overnight at a hotel.

Note: Our guide will confirm pick-up/drop-off times the day before.

Day 5: Altiplano and Atacama Desert - Santiago

In the early afternoon, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the Calama Airport. Fly back to Santiago. END OF SERVICES.
