Let the Kingdom of Cambodia, with its history, culture and stunning landscapes cast its spell over you. Sandwiched between Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia is a melting pot of South East Asian culture, scenery and cuisine.  The local people are friendly, happy and gentle - having struggled through years of bloodshed, poverty and political instability they have a seemingly unbreakable spirit, infectious optimism and they have prevailed with their smiles intact. Cambodia is one of those places that you come away from full of admiration and affection for the people.

In Cambodia, we set out to create a tropical cycle tour with predominantly flat riding, laced with loads of interesting things to see and do and finishing each day with tasty food and great accommodation. Our tour begins in Siem Reap in the north and as we wind our way south  we get all that and more: explore the famous Ankor Wat temples, check out floating villages on Tonle Sap lake, ride a bamboo train on abandoned train tracks and bike through a time-less landscape of dazzling rice paddies and swaying palms. Our cycling journey ends in Phnom Penh, the capital city and fitting end to this stunning journey.

Day 1: Arrive in Siem Reap, free day to explore this vibrant and colourful town. We will meet for a pre-departure meeting at 5 pm. D. Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 2: A "must do" in Cambodia, our first day’s ride takes us along back roads and trails firstly to Ankor Wat then on to explore some of the lesser known but equally spectacular temples nearby. 30 km cycling. BLD. Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 3: We follow a series of small roads and trails that wind through rural villages to the shore of Tonle Sap Lake. With huge seasonal water level variations, Tonle Sap is home to amazing floating and stilt villages which we visit and explore by boat. After lunch we continue riding to a working silk farm and learn how a worm can produce a silk scarf! We finish the day with a vehicle transfer to Battambang. Approx 60 km cycling, 3 hr boat trip, 3 hr drive. BLD, Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 4: In the morning we join a local NGO for a village industries bike tour where we gain an understanding of local village life, meet local families and learn about their traditional livelihoods and businesses. Try your hand at rice paper making, sample rice wine and famous bamboo rice cakes. In the afternoon we transfer to Kampong Chanang . Approx 30 km cycling, 4hr drive. BLD, Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 5: A day to overload the senses: visit a floating village, check out giant hand made pots, ride a bamboo train and ride through endless rice fields waving in the breeze as we make our way to Oudong, the historical capital of Cambodia. 70 km cycling. BLD, Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 6: We start the day with sunrise from the top Oudong Mountain, the only hill for miles around and only 509 steps to the top! After breakfast its on our bikes as we ride through small villages, rice fields and follow canals in an ever changing landscape to Kampong Speu. 60 km cycing, BLD. Accommodation: Community project guesthouse.

Day 7: A day off our bikes. We are working with a local NGO whose goal is to protect, help and train at risk children. We are in discussion with this NGO to establish a long term and sustainable working relationship whereby we can spend a day helping out in the best possible way to make a positive, practical contribution to them. BLD, Accommodation: Community project guesthouse.

Day 8: Back on our bikes we follow a series of small back roads and trails, through villages and farmlets, that lead us to Kirirom National Park. Explore some of the park in the afternoon before cooling off in the pool! 60 km cycling, BLD, Accommodation: Lodge.

Day 9: Riding away from Kirirom National park we roll along through relatively unpopulated countryside as we make our way to Kampot, the home of the famous Kampot peppercorn. 50 km cycling. 2 hr drive, BL, Evening meal at own cost. Accommodation: Guesthouse.

Day 10: Being in Kampot Peppercorn country it would be rude not to learn a bit more about these culinary treats. Our day begins with a tour of a local peppercorn farm before having a free afternoon to explore some fascinating history of the ex-French colonial town. In the evening we take a sunset cruise on the river. 30 km cycling. BL, Evening meal at own cost. Accommodation: Guesthouse.

Day 11: With the smell of the ocean in the air it is only a short ride out to Kep, the once famous and busy coastal resort town of the colonial era. Off our bikes and onto a boat we head across to Rabbit Island for lunch and swim in the clean clear tropical ocean. 25 km cycling. BLD. Accommodation: Guesthouse.

Day 12: Our last day on the bikes riding on village tracks and quiet back roads takes us towards Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh. 45 km cycling. 1.5 hrs drive. BLD. Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 13: After breakfast stay on to spend time relaxing/exploring Phnom Penh or head for home.
