Day 1: Delhi - Chandigarh - Shimla (375 km) (2000 m). In the morning take a drive for 6-7 hours on the national highway to reach Shimla. The road after Kullu starts with a gradual ascent. After having meals have a leisurely walk around the mall. Stay for a night at the hotel.

Day 2: Shimla - Sarahan (180 km) (1850 m). Drive through the thick forest that falls on the Indo-Tibet border road to reach Sutlej valley in the morning. En route you will cross past the important towns like Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda and Rampur. While driving past the Sutlej River take a right turn from the main road as you reach Jeori and start an upward climb to Sarahan, the old capital to the rulers of Rampur Bushahr. It has a palace complex noted for carved and wood-bonded Bhimakali Temple, The beauty of Sarahan lies in the snow clad peaks of Shrikhand Mahadev (5227 meters).

Day 3: Sarahan - Sangla (2680 m) (70 km). Drive to Sangla for Sarahan in the morning. Take a right turn from Karchham and enjoy the thrill of climbing 800 meters through 18 kilometers of winding rough road. You have to pass by Baspa river gorge and reach the flat floor of a valley formed on the surface of an ancient lake. Visit the Killa fort lying near Sangla village and the very beautiful Himalayan Baspa valley. The houses of the local folks are unique as they have mix of wood and slate roofs. Have an overnight stay in the camp.

Day 4: Sangla - Chitkul (18 km) (3450 m) - Sangla. Take a day's excursion to Chitkul and visit the famous Buddhist temples of Kagyupa sect. Through a side trail hike back to Sangla.

Day 5: Sangla - Kalpa - Recongpeo - Pangi - Morang (70 km) (2300 m). In the morning take a left turn as you reach the main road to come across the town of Recongpeo. This road leads to a narrow road that will transfer you to Pangi via Rogi through a scenic route. You have to come across a 1500 meters drop from the road and this steep decline is absolutely not recommended for people suffering from vertigo. Pangi, surrounded by apple orchards, is home to colorful Sheshri Nag temple and two Buddhist temples. Drive on the bare stretches of rugged mountains to reach Morang which has monasteries characterized by wood carvings and sculptures. Have an overnight stay at the camp.

Day 6: Morang - Jangi - Puh - Sumdo - Tabo (3050 m) (140 km). After Morang the road leads to places like Jangi and Puh. On the way you come across the confluence of Sutlej and Spiti River at Khabo (2831 meters). The road follows the route of Spiti River while River Sutlej does a disappearing act as it meanders to the east towards the border of Tibet. Sumdo lying at the divide between the Hamrang and Spiti valleys is the last village of Kinnaur. Reach Tabo and spend a night at the camp.

Day 7: Tabo - Dhankar - Kungri - Lalung - Kaza (70 km) (3600 m). In the morning visit Tabo monastery and drive to Kaza enroute the monasteries of Dhankar, Lalung and Kungri. Once you arrive at Kaza camp across the river.

Day 8: Kye - Kibber - Kaza. For an entire day take an excursion to Kye monastery and Kibber village and Thangsing village, if possible.

Day 9: Kaza - Losar - Kunzum Pass (4550 m) - Batal - Chota Dhara (120 km) (3200 m). The main highlight of the day is fascinating drive over Kunzum pass. CB range of mountains (CB 14, CB 16 and CB 17) will fascinate you with its charming views. The road towards Batal is characterized by downward drive over 18 hairpin bends. Move onwards to Chota Dhara.

Day 10: Chota Dhara - Kokshar - Khardung Gompa - Keylong - Ghamur - Jispa (120 km) (3050 meters). This day is marked by spectacular drive over Lahoul valley. From the main road take a climb towards Khardung gompa. Travel to Keylong past the Ghamur gompa to Jispa. Have an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 11: Jispa - Rohtang Pass (3985 m) - Manali (145 km) (2000 m). Drive to Manali via Rohtang Pass in the morning. On entering Kulu valley you come across the rugged mountains of Lahoul which makes way for the lush greenery of Kulu valley. Spend a night at the hotel.

Day 12: Manali. Engage in sightseeing of Manali which includes Naggar castle, Doongri temple and Vashisht temple.

Day 13: Manali - Manikaran. (85 km) - Kulu. Drive to Manikaran in the morning. The journey over the beautiful road through Parvati valley is enjoyable. Visit the hot water baths and the famous Sikh and Hindu temples. If you have time, drive to Bijli Mahadev temple. You have to walk a couple of kilometers to reach the temple. Have an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 14: Kulu - Mandi - Rewalsar Lake. (85 km). Drive to Rewalsar Lake in the morning. This small and dark lake is marked by floating reed islands is one of the important pilgrim centers. The Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, established in 14th century, presents a colorful picture with prayer flags and prayer wheels. Spend a night at the hotel.

Day 15: Rewalsar Lake - Palampur. Drive to Palampur in the morning enroute Baidya Nath temple. Have an overnight stay at the splendid Taragarh Palace hotel.

Day 16: Palampur. Enjoy the beauty of Palampur, magnificent palace of the erstwhile Maharajah of Kashmir for an entire day.

Day 17: Palampur - Chandigarh - Delhi. Start in the morning and take a 7 hours drive to Chandigarh and board a train to reach Delhi. Stay a night at the hotel in Delhi.
