The smallest island, Procida, is charming with its coloured houses and picturesque inlets. The biggest of the three, Ischia, is known as the ‘green island’, with mountains rising up over 2000 feet, and famous for its almost subtropical climate and its thermal spa’s. The world famous island of Capri, a place much cherished already by the Roman emperors, is the last stop on this tour. Capri is ever so charming not only for its natural arch and its impressive cliffs, but also for its grand Roman Villas.

Trip plan:

Day 1 Arrival to Procida
Arrival in Naples. By shuttle bus to the Harbour and further by boat to the picturesque island of Procida, probably the least known of the 3 big islands in the Bay of Naples. Overnight in a hotel on Procida.

Day 2 Procida
Today’s walk takes you through the colourful houses and idyllic fishing harbours of the island. Procida is rather small and it is possible to ‘do’ the whole island in a day. You walk up to the historical heart of the island, dominated by its castle and afterwards descend to the small fishing harbours. Overnight in a hotel on Procida.
Distance: 7-10 km. Approx. 3- 4,5 h. walking

Day 3. Procida - Ischia
After some free time in the morning, the tour continues by boat to the „green island” of Ischia. The pretty streets of the old town centre offer a great opportunity for a scenic stroll around the fortified island. You spend the night in a beautiful hotel, inside the old medieval castle of Ischia, built on a rocky island off-shore, which certainly deserves to be explored as well. Overnight in a hotel on Ischia.
Distance: 5 km. Approx. 2,5 h. walking

Day 4. Ischia
From your hotel in the castle you walk to the old town centre. From here the route takes you along the beautiful south coast of the island, through a landscape of terraced vineyards and lava sculptures, with unforgettable views over the Bay of Naples and Capri. The path descends to the large sandy beach of Marina dei Maronti. Just behind the beach there are several narrow canyons with thermal springs, known since Roman times. The route continues to the charming fishing village of Sant’Angelo, from where you take the bus back to the hotel. Overnight in a hotel on Ischia.
Distance: 8-15 km. Approx. 3-5 h. walking

Day 5. Ischia
Today you’ll discover the mountains of Ischia, a chain of extinct volcanoes which occupy the whole central part of the island. After a short bus ride, you walk up to the Monte Epomeo, the highest mountain on the island, and then continue along the easy, comfortable paths through forested areas and vineyards, along rock dwellings of monks and hermits, and always with incredible views over the sea. The route descends to Ischia’s most western village, Forio. After a stroll through its pleasant town centre, you take the bus along the north coast back to Ischia Porto. Overnight in hotel on Ischia.
Distance: 7-10 km. Approx. 3,5-5 h. walking

Day 6. Ischia - Capri
By boat to the rightly famous island of Capri, a place much cherished by the Roman Emperors, which has preserved both its charm and its fame up to today. Accommodation in a hotel in the less touristy town of Anacapri. You take the chair lift to the highest mountain of the island, the Mount Solaro, from where you can enjoy marvellous views over the island, the Bay of Naples, the Bay of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Descending along the ridge you slowly walk down to the light house at the very west end of the island. The walk then continues along the coast, passing along a series of fortresses, partly built by the English troops to defend the island from the fleet of Napoleon. The walk ends at the world famous ‘Grotta Azzurra’ (‘Blue Grotto’), from where you travel back by bus to your hotel. Overnight in a hotel in Anacapri.
Distance: 9 km. Approx. 4 h. walking

Day 7. Capri
The last walking day is dedicated to the more famous side of the island of Capri, to see the places that have inspired so many over the centuries, and have always attracted the global jet set. Of course you do not only see the ‘touristy’ highlights, but you also make a beautiful round walk along the almost pristine South Coast. From the charming backstreets of Capri, throught the ruins of some of the most impressive roman villa’s of the area and the untouched coastline of the southern part of the island, and finally towards the famous Faraglioni, three uninhabited small islands, just off the South coast. Through the Gardens of August and the impressive Via Krupp, perhaps the world’s most beautiful pedestrian way, you descend to the charming Marina Piccola, from where you travel back by bus to your hotel. Overnight in a hotel in Anacapri.
Distance: 10 km. Approx. 4-5 h. walking
