Itinerary:
Day 1.

Departure from Cluj in the evening towards the west. Overnights in Padis in chalet or wild camping.

Day 2.

In the morning we’ll start one of the most beautiful marked Padis circuits, following the yellow point. At the start of the tour, we’ll get high up the Cetatile Ponorului (Ponor’s Forteresses) cave, till we reach the sector La Balcoane from where we’ll have a spectacular view on both entrances of the cave. We will go on towards Bortig pit cave (a glacier at the bottom of a 40 meters deep cave) and we’ll pass through Galbena Gorges. From here, the marked path which will bring us back to Padis Chalet passes through Poiana Florilor (Flowers’ Glade) and by Focul Viu ice cave (the Living Fire). Difficulty: medium, with several difficult segments. 19 km, 9-10 hours. Overnights at the chalet or wild camping.

Day 3.

In the morning, we put on the canyoning gear and let ourselves leaded by adrenaline throughout the above mentioned canyon. In the afternoon, departure towards Cluj. Stop on the way to visit the Bear’s Cave. As the name already betrays it, the cave was home,15.000 years ago, to the ‘cave bear’ (Ursus Spelaeus). The cave shelters the best preserved cave bear skeleton in a cave open to the public in Romania. Arrival back in Cluj in late afternoon.
