Upon arriving at the small Noi Bai airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel downtown. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the tree-lined boulevards, French Indochinese architecture and tranquil lakes of this unique one thousand year old city. You will be welcomed in the evening with a dinner at a lovely restaurant over looking Hoankiem Lake, followed by a visit to a nice cafe nearby where your tour guide will give you an overview of your entire trip.
Day 2: Hanoi Sights (B, D).
Most travelers love Hanoi because of its casual way of life. You could just sit at an outdoor cafe and enjoy watching the passers by as they enjoy life or head to a more energetic area nearby for a fresh beer. Today you will have chance to stroll around Hanoi and explore this casual beauty. Your first stop is the beautiful West Lake with Tran Quoc pagoda - the oldest one in Hanoi, yielding a view of Ho Chi Minh mausoleum from outside. You will then visit the Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam since the 11th century, a peaceful ancient space right in the heart of a bustling city. Lunch will be a smorgasbord of Hanoi specialties. Afternoon is for The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, one of the most interesting museums in Hanoi with an outdoor and indoor display of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups. Discover the Old Quarter of Hanoi by Xich Lo (a local transport which is like Tuk Tuk). This fascinating quarter is comprised of narrow alleys and shop houses, which is also referred to as “36 ancient streets”. Afterwards you will enjoy a Water puppet show- the unique Traditional Art in the North of Vietnam. Dinner will be at Quan An Ngon which will surprise you by its great local food, cooked and served in open kitchens. After dinner, you will be transferred to the Railway Station to board the night train where you will be rocked to sleep as you journey on overnight to Sapa.
Day 3: Sapa Hike (B, L).
You will arrive at the Lao Cai Railway Station in the early morning to the cool mountain air to get ready for your exciting trip to Sapa. Your guide and driver will be waiting outside the railway station to transfer you to the 'Sapa in the mist of cloud', passing through breathtakingly winding passageways with views that you have never before experienced. Your only "job" today? ...arrive in Sapa, enjoy your breakfast and a hot coffee while looking over the beautiful valley and get some rest before your hike. Although it's an easy hike, you would still need comfortable shoes and rain coats. The trek begins in Sapa town, giving you the chance to see the most beautiful views of the northern Vietnam mountains, the rice terraces, and an opportunity to meet up with ethnic hill tribe people and cute little kids in traditional costumes who are very excited to see you. Today you have the honor of exploring the culture of the local tribes. The hike is slow and easy, so your kids and parents can enjoy comfortably. A picnic lunch by a beautiful stream is another highlight of the trek. Our driver will wait at Lao Chai village to pick your family up to get back to Sapa. The evening is at your leisure to enjoy the dinner at a local restaurant of your choice, which is very easy because of the many choices in Sapa Town, including local delicacies, western cuisine and street grills. Overnight in the cool (a little chilled in winter) air of Sapa.
Day 4: Sapa – Hanoi - Highlights of the Hills (B, L, D).
Wake up and feel the cloud outside your window. Breakfast by fireplace and hot coffee for a cool morning. Today is easy. A visit to Sapa morning market with vivid colors of traditional costumes of many different tribes attending the market. Cat Cat village of H'mong tribe is 30 mins walking nearby so it will be optional for you to decide. Lunch at local restaurant with Vietnamese Hotpot. Afternoon is free at leisure enjoying Sapa. Around 4 pm, our car will pick you up and transfer to Lao Cai railway station to board the night train back Hanoi. Overnight on train.
Day 5: Hanoi - Halong - Bay of 1600 Islands (B, L, D).
Arrive Hanoi early morning. Get some refresh and breakfast. Today we head out on the 3.5hour scenic drive to Halong Bay, which was designated a World Heritage Site in 1994. Halong Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. You will enjoy a welcome coffee upon arrival in Halong bay before boarding for the overnight boat trip. Enjoy your great seafood lunch on board then we begin our fantastic cruise on Halong Bay. The scenery is truly breathtaking and is continuously changing. This includes a visit to Sung Sot Cave, Tuan Chau Island, and Dinh Huong Island, Ga Choi Island, Dog Island, Sail Island and a swim at Titop beach. Kayaking is available before sunset. You will dine on board while watching the sun go down. A cooking class is also interesting if you love cooking. This evening is for you to enjoy the local entertainment or just relax. Watch a classic vietnamese film or just lay out on the sundeck and enjoying the fresh air on the calm water.
Day 6: A Day on the Bay – flight to Saigon (B, L).
Wake up early (6:30 am) if you would like to enjoy a Tai Chi Exercise on the sundeck while admiring the magnificent scenery of the sunrise over the Bay. For the early riser, complimentary tea, coffee and breakfast will be served. You will then visit Luon cave on small bamboo paddle boat manned by our staff and enjoy the quiet atmosphere enclosed by high islets and mountains before being returned to our Huong Hai Junk boat. You will sail past rock formations, the Finger islet, the Hoa Cuong fishing village area called Ga Choi, Fighting Cock islet, Dinh Huong Islet, and Little Dog islet. Enjoy the tranquil scenery as the boat meanders its way through the bay on the way back to Ha Long city. Enjoy lunch as your boat weaves through strange-shaped limestone rock formations. Our guide will take you to Noi Bai airport (3.5h) to board the afternoon flight to Saigon (2h). Upon arrival, our local guide in Saigon will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel downtown.
Day 7: Explore the Mekong Delta (B, L, D).
Today you'll have a full day excursion to Mekong Delta. You will depart for Cai Be (3h) around 8am. Enjoy the green paddy fields stretching towards the horizon. When you arrive in Cai Be, you’ll board a motorized boat that takes you to the floating market, a sight that you’ll see no where else in the world. Next, your row boat will zigzag through a maze of shadow canals to arrive at a great orchard where you can freely taste many of the amous tropical fruits of Vietnam and watch locals’ as they complete their daily chores. Then we’ll see how coconut candy, crispy rice cake and ceramics are made here (served free with premium hot tea.) After this, you will roam through a village by bike to check out several rural shops or you can relax in a hammock for a short rest. Then you will head back to Saigon for dinner at a local restaurant and a good night´s sleep.
Day 8: Phu Quoc Island (B).
We bid farewell to Saigon and head for our great beach vacation on one of the most beautiful island of the globe - Phu Quoc Island. Situated in the Gulf of Thailand 45 km west of Ha Tien on the Vietnamese mainland and 15 km south of the coast of Cambodia, Phú Quôc is ringed with some of most beautiful beaches in Vietnam, and offers the best seafood in the country. Phú Quôc island and its beaches was voted to be "The Cleanest and Most Beautiful Beach in the World" by ABC News in February, 2008. A family vacation here would be more than worthwhile not only because of this, but because it is also a chance to trek through the tropical forrest, go snorkeling or diving in the emerald water, and explore the pearl factory. And a beautiful beachfront resort will make it perfect for your family vacation.
Day 9: Day on the Beach (B).
A full day free at leisure enjoying Phu Quoc's untouched white sand beaches: swimming, snorkeling, cycling, the spa or just lazy reading by the pool. It´s a day to do exactly what you want without having to follow a schedule. Relax and enjoy!
Day 10: Continue the Relaxtion on Phu Quoc Island (B).
A full day free at leisure enjoying Phu Quoc Island. An easy trek to Phu Quoc's beautiful tropical forest is a great opportunity for your kids to learn more about the nature and see some new animals. Or if you just prefer to relax on the beach and play football, it is just a short walk away. We can also arrange a BBQ on the beach for you upon request.
Day 11: Back to the City (B).
Enjoy your last chance to lounge on the beach before boarding your afternoon flight back to Saigon, where you'll have time to enjoy your final night in Vietnam at your own desire.
Day 12: Saigon Departure (B).
Today is the last day of your Vietnam trip, the moment to say farewell to Vietnam and board your flight back to home-sweet-home. This trip has reached its end, but your discovery of the beautiful country of Vietnam is just beginning, with many more trips that will show you its expansive greatness and create just as many wonderful new memories for you and your family. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon!
