Day 1: Arrive Algiers, Algeria. Arrive Algiers, meet, assist and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Safir.
Day 2: Algiers. After breakfast, go on a walking tour of central Algiers including the esplanade. See the port, art deco hotels, National Assembly, neo-Moorish Prefecture, the Place des Martyrs (situated at the foot of the casbah and housing 17th century El Djedid Mosque) followed by Place Emir Abdelkader (with monument honor of the founder of Independent Algerian), the Grande Poste (Algiers' quintessential neo-Moorish building, adorned with minarets, triple arches and a huge cupola). Day 3: Algiers & Vicinity. After breakfast, go on a full day excursion to the Tombeau de la Chrétienne, the royal mausoleum of Mauritania, one of North Africa's most famous archaeological survivals. Continue to visit Tipasa, a UNESCO World Heritage site bordering the Mediterranean, which contains a Roman amphitheater, 4th century basilica, forum, old port and museum. See Bastion 23, an Ottoman Palais des Rais converted into art and architecture museum. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner. Overnight at Hotel Safir.
Day 4: Algiers – Sidi Frej - Algiers. Today explore the “Anglo-Algiers”, including historic Hotel St George, where Eisenhower and Churchill planned allied invasions of southern Europe, a series of beautiful white villas, constructed by British architect Benjamin Bucknall, the Church of the Holy Trinity (memorials commemorating the lives of Algiers' English residents from 1580 onwards). This afternoon drive to Sidi Ferruch, the site of the first landing by the French in 1830 and, in 1942, the site of American landings. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner. Overnight at Hotel Safir.
Day 5: Algiers. After breakfast, visit the Monument to the Fallen, constructed in 1982 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Algerian war of independence. Visit the Museum of the Liberation and Museum of Fine Arts, which is one of the Mediterranean's great "undiscovered" art galleries with work by Algerian painters and canvasses by Pissarro, Gauguin and Monet. In the afternoon visit the Jardin d'Essai, a vast complex of gardens, celebrated for its avenue of dragon trees. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner. Overnight at Hotel Safir.
Day 6: Algiers. Today you will visit the Bardo Museum of prehistory and ethnography, the Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Arts, followed by visit to casbah. This afternoon visit the Museum of Arts and Crafts. This evening, with the assistance of your guide, decide on your excursions and activities. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner. Overnight at Hotel Safir.
Day 7: Algiers – Depart. Today, you have the opportunity to decide choose your excursions and activities with your driver and guide. You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast.
