Taking this wonderful bike tour you will ride along the most scenic routes, sights at the River Danube, and stay in some of the nicest spa & castle hotels of North-West Hungary, with lovely surroundings & atmosphere, superb comfort and luxury. You will enjoy the panorama of the Danube Bend, lakes of Tata, the Baroque towns Szentendre & Sopron, the medieval castle of Visegrád, Hungary’s biggest cathedral in Esztergom, the Esterházy Palace in Fertőd, Lake Neusiedl, and gourmet experiences and wine tastings.
Day 1: Arrival in Budapest. Your hotel is centrally situated at the Danube, on Buda side, with a lovely view. You will meet your guide, have information about the tour, and dinner in the hotel.
Day 2: We ride along the Danube, cycle through the Margaret Island, a wonderful park. Getting through Old-Buda, we stop at the ruins of a 3rd century Roman town, and take a walk among the charming Baroque houses Orthodox churches, lovely restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops of Szentendre, the town of artists. We can visit a special exibition of a famous ceramist, or a Marzipan Museum. We stay in a nice and peaceful family hotel with a small swimming pool, and gourmet food. (cycling 25 km/16 m appr).
Day 3: We ride through tiny little villages on the island of Szentendre along the Danube, and we take an old narrow-gauge railway in the Börzsöny Hills. After cycling in very beautiful woods among the hills, we end up at a nice glade to stay at a lovely hotel there with an individual character, a gorgeous outdoor swimming pool, saunas and other small pools. (cycling 36 km/22 m appr).
Day 4: Cycling among the hills, we arrive at a monastery, which belongs to the only original Hungarian monastic order, the Paulaner. We ride along the Danube, among fascinating sceneries of the hills and a view of the fortification at Visegrád, where we walk around the ruins of the 13th century Citadel. The panorama of the Danube Bend is really breathtaking from here, and from our hotel, which has an exceptional location. (cycling 37 km/23 m appr)
Day 5: We go to Esztergom, which is the center of the Catholic Church of Hungary. We visit here the biggest cathedral of the country, and getting across some hills in the untouched woods, we ride to Tata. The hotel where we stay is surrounded by a nice wood. Number of recreational possibilities such as beautiful swimming pools, a sauna, and a fitness room make your stay here pleasant. (cycling 34 km/21 m appr).
Day 6: We cycle through beautiful parks around the lakes of Tata, visit the medieval Castle, pass by old watermills, nice Baroque houses and many little interesting sights. Then we get to Pannonhalma to see the most valuable parts of the Benedictine monastery, which was founded in 996, and is a great symbol of our old traditions, and a part of the World Heritage. We taste some good local wine with a delicious lunch in a lovely cellar, and we move to another enchanting area, the Szigetköz. We can swim in a lovely thermal bath, and we get to a 400 year old Renaissance castle. It is one of Hungary’s most beautiful castle hotels. Antique furnitures, chandeliers, stoves, a chapel, and the English garden with ancient trees make the atmosphere here rather unique. (cycling 18 km/11 m appr).
Day 7: We stop at an amazing Romanesque church, and cycle in the untouched nature through the Hanság, a mysterious marshland. After reaching Lake Ferto, we visit the splendid Esterházy Palace in Fertod, and get to a small Castle Hotel where we stay two nights. Dinner we have in the most special restaurant of the area. (cyicling 57 km/36 m appr).
Day 8: We take a walk in a wonderful antique world surrounded by the original city walls of Sopron. We cycle through a lovely wood to Lake Ferto, one of the most interesting wild water areas of Central Europe. We take a boat trip, and we look at an interesting quarry with enormous halls, and a beautiful view of the lake. We taste some of the finest wines of the region with our dinner in the excellent restaurant again. (cyicling 22 km/14 m appr)
Day 9: We cycle among picturesque vineyards and villages along the lake, stop in the pretty town Rust which is famous for its storks, and then ride in the Ferto National Park, to the northernmost part of the lake. We get to Vienna, where we stay at a nice small Art Nouveau hotel of the 19th century with a beautiful garden in the finest residential area, not far from the famous Grinzing wine area, where we have our farewell dinner in a nice restaurant. (cycling 45 km/28 m appr).
Day 10: After breakfast you can enjoy the nice atmosphere of the hotel, and have some free time in Vienna, and we hope that you will return home with very nice memories.
