Day 1: Arusha. On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our office representative and transferred to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park. After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park with lunch box en-route. Nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, the park is recognized for its incredible beauty. You can see many game animals such as buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo and others. Enjoy an afternoon of game viewing in search of the famous but rare tree climbing lion. From a sea of pink flamingos as far as the eye can see to bull elephants at close range, Lake Manyara showcases a superb variety of herd animals and birdlife. Dinner and overnight in lodge or tented camp.
Day 3: Lake Manyara – Lake Eyasi. We enter the true tribal areas of Tanzania after leaving the tourist trail and heading towards Lake Eyasi, home to the hunter-gathers, an ethnic group of the Hadzabe Bushmen bearing similar characteristics to those of Bushmen in Southern Africa. The small people of this indigenous tribe are probably the last living in true harmony with nature and have a wealth of fauna and flora knowledge to share with us. The time you’ll spend with them is filled with tours and game walks guided by bushmen taking you on their traditional hunting tracks. Dinner and overnight in lodge or tented camp.
Day 4: Lake Eyasi – Lake Natron Game Controlled Area. A long drive today, but certainly worthwhile. From Lake Eyasi you drive north to the Lake Natron Game Controlled Area, where you will be compensated for the drive with a beautiful landscape and the opportunity the stretch your legs and hike. On the way you’ll visit a Maasai village where you’ll experience the Maasai culture and way of life. Let these smiling, happy people surprise you. The Maasai enjoy telling hunting stories about their ancestors and will show you the most beautiful locations in this area. Dinner and overnight in one of the tented camps around Lake Natron.
Day 5: Lake Natron Game Controlled Area. A special site: Lake Natron where thousands of flamingos march proudly along the shores. The lake is filled with minerals, the ideal food for crawfish, which in turn is the favorite food for flamingos and the reason these flamingos have pink feathers. If you enjoy photography, this is an excellent place to take pictures. The immense lake is located at the foot of the active volcano, Oldonyo Lengai, which is Maasai for ‘Mountain of God’. This day of leisure you can or relax, or hike to waterfalls, or take a bath in the hot springs… Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Lake Natron – Serengeti National Park. After breakfast you start your way to Serengeti National Park, crossing the Loliondo Game Reserve. After stopping for your picnic lunch you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive. Dinner and overnight in lodge or tented camp.
Day 7: Serengeti National Park. Full day to spend on the vast plains of the Serengeti! You will have breakfast at the lodge or camp before we embark on an early morning game drive in the park. The Migration, consisting of around 2 million animals, is on the move all year round. Depending on the season you may see this impressive phenomenon. Naturally it also attracts a mass of predators and you may be able to see a band of lionesses gather for a hunt. You will return to your lodge for a sumptuous lunch to gather strength for the afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight in lodge or tented camp.
Day 8: Serengeti – Lake Victoria. Drive through the western corridor of the Serengeti up to Lake Victoria and the town of Mwanza. In the afternoon drive into the nearby hills to take a look at rural Africa, passing through the small villages of the Sakuma people, who grow cotton, ground nuts, sorghum and cassava as well as keeping livestock. Life carries on here, simply as it has done for centuries, but with a few poignant reminders of the 20th Century! See the local school and take a stroll to the top of a small kopje. Dinner and overnight in hotel or lodge.
Day 9: Lake Victoria. Day at leisure in Mwanza (lunch included) to enjoy the views over and the beaches of Lake Victoria. Optionally you can go boating and fishing on the lake. Dinner and overnight in hotel or lodge.
Day 10: Lake Victoria – Arusha by flight. Flight from Mwanza to Arusha for connection to your flight home or any further destination.
