After picking you up from your accommodation in Alice Springs bright and early, we hit the road for four fantastic days of Outback adventure travel. (For those commencing at Uluru, we will collect you from the Outback Pioneer Hotel or the airport).
While travelling to Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park we will stop along the way for refreshments, a camel ride (own expense) and a chance to purchase some Aboriginal paintings. The afternoon gives you a chance to see Uluru, including a visit to the cultural centre where you can learn about the Tjukurpa (Aboriginal law/religion). Enjoy a guided base walk or a chance to climb (weather permitting) should you choose. Note: Uluru is a sacred site and Anangu, the indigenous custodians, respectfully ask visitors not to climb it.
Afterwards, enjoy a magnificent Uluru sunset, accompanied with a glass or two of sparkling wine before returning to the campsite for a delicious meal, a couple of drinks and time to sit back to contemplate the day's events with the rest of the tour group.
Day 2 (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).
After watching a breathtaking Uluru sunrise from a lookout close to our campsite, it's time for breakfast before travelling to Kata Tjuta for a 7 km hike through the magnificent "Valley of the Winds". After a leisurely lunch we travel to Curtin Springs Cattle Station for a tour of a typical working cattle station before we travel to Kings Creek Station for our second nights bush camp. Our private campsite at Kings Creek is miles from the crowds, which is where the feeling of ‘wayoutback’ really starts to take hold. After a campfire dinner it's time to kick back and be mesmerised by the millions of stars on display. Outback travel doesn’t get much better than this!
Day 3 (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner).
This morning join your tour group for a guided walk through the towering walls, crevices and plateaus of Watarrka (Kings Canyon). Visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and the tranquil ‘Garden of Eden’. After Watarrka we travel along the famous Mereenie Loop Road in a 4WD, where you will be shaken and not stirred! See native Australian wildlife along the way before arriving at our permanent camp at Glen Helen, nearby the stunning waterhole that the Traditional owners of this land believe is home to an ancient and powerful Rainbow Serpent.
Day 4 (Breakfast/Lunch).
Continue your Red Centre tour by spending the day exploring the mighty West MacDonnell Ranges. Travel off road to Ormiston Gorge, keep your eyes peeled for Perentie Lizards lazing along the banks and take a swim in the rock holes. Hike the “Ghost Gum Walk” before travelling back to Alice Springs, returning to your accommodation at approximately 5.30 pm. After returning to civilisation, a hot shower awaits before joining your tour group for a farewell meal, a few cold ales and some laughs – the perfect finale to this memorable Outback tour experience.
