It is also home to volcano-studded horizons, lush forests and beautiful cobblestone streets and is loaded with incredible natural, historical and cultural appeal. From tranquil beaches to tropical jungles, Guatemala is still a developing nation with astonishing natural beauty and a compelling place for travellers. Costa Rica is a well-established nature travel destination and a must see country for ecotourism lovers due to its abundance of natural assets. One of the planets biodiversity hotspots Costa Rica is home to jaguars, sloths, monkeys, green sea turtles, manatees, as well as caimans, crocodiles, lizards, frogs and in incredible number of birds. Join us on this tour of discovery!

Itinerary:
Day 1-2: Arrival to the beautiful town of Flores in Guatemala. Here, parrots and monkeys far outnumber people, and the crumbling ruins of the ancient Mayas stand in for modern cities. We visit Tikal National Park, where some 3,000 ancient structures rise from the rainforest floor.

Day 3-4: Visit the wonderful authentic market of Comalapa to see the local people go about their daily still dressed in the traditional textiles of the area. Arriving to Lake Atitlan we take a trip onto the lake we explore small villages surrounded by towering volcanoes.

Day 5-7: Visit Chichicastenango market, the best in Central America, where locals trade fruit, vegetables and everyday items and you can find endless variety of beautiful textile, wooden and ceramic crafts. We continue to Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the cobblestone streets are lined with pretty, pastel-hued homes. Explore the city and the surrounding countryside.

Day 8: As we say farewell to wonderful Guatemala, our adventure continues on to Costa Rica.

Day 9-10: Tranquil Tortuguero Village is a place where there are no cars or wide streets and nature is literally bursting into town. The waterways and beaches of the park are home to populations of endangered Green Sea Turtles, manatees, as well as caimans, and crocodiles. The forests are home to jaguars, three-toed sloths, three species of monkeys, Basilisk lizards and poisonous frogs also inhabit the area, along with 375 species of birds.

Day 11-12: Arenal Volcano is one of Costa Rica’s most notable natural features, with its picture perfect conical shape rising to 1,657m. Enjoy the most extraordinary view of the continuously active Arenal Volcano on a gentle hike along the base of this marvellous “Mountain of Fire” and later relax in the Titoku Hot Springs.

Day 13-15: The stunningly beautiful Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is home to thousands of species of plants and animals. We will visit a Herpetarium (Frog Pond) and will also take the Sky Tram which will lead you up to the Continental Divide and to one of the highest mountains of Monteverde. While in the region we will also take a Coffee Tour to experience the age-old coffee tradition for which Costa Rica is famous.

Day 16: Our last night in Costa Rica is spent sharing stories and solidifying friendships made during this incredible adventure.

Day 17: At the conclusion of your trip you will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight.
