Day 1: Flight to Brazil
Day 2: Corcovado
Upon arrival in Rio, reception at airport and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon private tour to Corcovado with private driver and guide. The tour begins in Cosme Velho's neighborhood. The cog train rolls through the Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world and up to the statue. Once there, enjoy a panoramic and extraordinary view of Rio, including the Sugar Loaf, the Guanabara Bay, the beaches of Southern Zone and the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon. At the peak of the hill is Christ the Redeemer, the art deco statue of Jesus Christ and icon of Rio. After the visit of the Corcovado, the tour continues to Sao Conrado area with a brief stop at the Pepino beach where one can appreciate hang gliders overhead. Transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3: Sugar Loaf
Today enjoy a private Half Day Tour to the Sugar Loaf with private driver/guide. This tour begins with a stroll through downtown Rio, passing by the Sambodrome, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, in pyramid form, with internal diameter of 96 meters and height of 80 meters. Get to know the traditional Cinelandia square with the historical buildings, the Municipal Theater, the National Library and the National Museum of Fine Arts. By taking the Aterro do Flamengo, one will be taken to the neighborhood of Urca to find one of the largest symbols of the city: The Sugar Loaf. This visit is made in two steps by cable car. The first cable car takes passengers to Urca Hill which is 215 meters high and provides a beautiful view of the Guanabara Bay and its islands, the Rio-Niteroi bridge and Corcovado hill. From this stage, a second cable car will be taken up to the top with 395 meters to find a splendid view of Copacabana beach, the Santa Cruz fortress and some beaches of Niteroi.
Day 4: Day at Leisure
Tonight, experience the show at the Rio Scenarium (this tour does not include dinner). Located in the Lapa area, Rio Scenarium is one of the premier places to listen to the best of Brazilian music, and where the real carioca spirit of bohemian way of life can be felt. The venue is an antique shop during the day, and a live music bar during the night. The programming changes every month. The show ends around midnight. After dinner, enjoy a Brazilian music presentation at the famous Rio Plataforma. Rio Plataforma is one of the premier places to listen to the best of Brazilian music.
Day 5: Manaus – Amazon Cruise
Morning, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Manaus. In Manaus, check in at the front desk and settle in. Enjoy the sunset on the rooftop with classical music. Departure toward Rio Negro, passing Ponta Negra, a crescent-shaped sandy beach. Welcome cocktails and presentation of the officers and crew follows. Welcome dinner at the Kaurup Restaurant. After dinner, enjoy live music and dancing or the option of drinks on the rooftop.
Day 6: Manacapuru Harbor – Tres Bocas Region
Wake up while passing through Manacapuru harbor forest and a sunrise lovers breakfast on the upper deck or in the Kuarup Restaurant. After breakfast we go trekking through Jaraquí and then take boat trips through “igarapes” or narrow forest streams. Before lunch, watch a presentation called Introduction to Amazonia in the meeting room. In the afternoon, take more boat excursions to the “igapos“ or large flooded forests in the Tres Bocas region. Relax and watch the sunset while listening to classical music. After dinner, listen to music, have a drink under the stars on the rooftop or try to spot some alligators.
Day 7: Novo Airao- Archipelago Anavilhanas
Visit the “botos” or pink river dolphins, and go trekking and boating through the “igarapes” and “igapos” of Novo Airao. Enjoy lunch at Kuarup Restaurant or on the rooftop buffet. A presentation on the fish of Amazonia will be made. After lunch, take boat trips through lakes and rivers from Archipelago Anavilhanas. Have a night of leisure, listening to music or looking at the stars.
Day 8: Rio Cuieiras
After a breakfast on the upper deck or in the restaurant, visit an indigenous community at Rio Cuieiras. A lecture on the birds of Amazonia will be given before lunch. Take a boat excursion through the lakes of Rio Negro where one can fish for piranha and bird watch. Enjoy a special farewell captain’s dinner at the restaurant, then watch a regional folklore show with music and dance to follow, with the rooftop bar open.
Day 9: Manaus- Flight Home
Enjoy a sunrise-lovers breakfast and watch the meeting of the waters or “encontro das aguas,” the meeting of Rio Solimoes and Rio Negro. Relax as we glide into Manaus and check out. Transfer to Manaus and then transfer to the airport to take the flight back home.
