Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival - Welcome at Lisbon Airport
Transfer from Lisbon to Estremoz (02h00).Lodging in a castle converted into an Historical Hotel from where you can admire a superb view over the city of Estremoz and the vast Alentejo plain.

Day 2: Bike Estremoz to Vila Viçosa (26km, +300m), Optional (66km, +700m)
Today you will have a leisure day to enjoy. Leave Historical Estremoz and ride to another historical place – Vila Viçosa, the capital of marble in Portugal. Here you can visit the Ducal Palace. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries on the remains of Moorish, possibly even Roman buildings, for centuries it hosted a brilliant court and was a hub of intellectual life. In 1640 João IV was the first of the Dukes of Bragança to ascend the Portuguese throne. Although Lisbon then became the seat of the monarchy, João IV and his successors continued making frequent visits to Vila Viçosa.

Day 3: Vila Viçosa Loop Day (47km, +300m), Optional (65km, +700m)
A gorgeous day! You will ride towards Spain by a landscape of cork trees, olive groves and flocks of sheep! Admire the Guadiana river, separating Portugal from Spain and make a stop to visit Juromenha, a picturesque village overlooking Spain. On this day you have to go up for a while to return to Vila Viçosa.

Day 4: Bike Vila Viçosa to Redondo (29km, +400m), Optional (40km, +500m)
Leave Vila Viçosa riding on an old road and passing through a cork forest. At Alandroal village, contemplate the town’s medieval castle while enjoying a delicious coffee and pastry in the main square. Continue riding through quiet and tranquil roads, crossing small villages and going to a hillier region – “Serra da Ossa”. Pass by the village of Redondo where you can visit a pottery workshop or the wine museum “Enoteca”, and try some of the best Alentejo Wine. Go up the hills surrounding the village and arrive at a beautiful Convent on the Hills – São Paulo – where you will stay on this night. Secluded in the quietness and isolation of the western slopes of the Serra d’Ossa mountain, the Monastery of São Paulo was built in 1182 by hermit monks seeking the ideal place to live and pray in peace and quiet.
