Day 1: Fazenda Provisao Cacao Tour.
Reception at the airport of Ilheus and land transfer to Fazenda Provisao, within the municipality of Urucuca. Today begins the "Chocolate Trail Tour" along the cacao coast of Bahia! The route includes a tour featuring the culture and history of the cultivation of cocoa, visiting several fazendas that produce the best known fruit of southern Bahia. During the tour, visit several fazendas with different plantations and learn about the whole process, from planting to the sale of fine chocolate.
The region that is being visited today is part of the APA Itacare - Serra Grande which has been named as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for its natural beauty and diversity of fauna and flora. Discover all of this when hiking, swimming in the river, bathing in the sea and taking part in any adventurous activity. On today's tour, upon arrival at Fazenda Provisao, walk around a cocoa plantation located in the Atlantic Forest for one hour. Then, return to the fazenda to learn about its history as well as how to process the harvested fruit until dinner time. Spend the night in accommodations at the Fazenda.
Day 2: Urucuca to Taboquinhas.
After breakfast, travel from Urucuca to the town of Taboquinhas, passing within the State Park Serra de Conduru. Upon arrival enjoy a nice lunch. In the afternoon, learn about the entire process from planting cocoa through an interpretative path to the production of fine chocolate which will be tasted! Dinner and accommodation in Taboquinhas this evening.
Day 3: Taboquinhas Cacao Tour and Afternoon of Leisure.
In the morning, visit a community that elaborates on artisan chocolate across the Rio das Contas. The afternoon will be free at leisure to partake in optional activities. One will be able to choose between different activities, including visiting Itacare and its beaches, rafting down the Rio das Contas River or maybe just relaxing at the fazenda reading a novel of the famous Brazilian author Jorge Amado. Lunch and dinner will be provided at this evening's accommodations.
Day 4: Taboquinhas to Marau Peninsula.
After breakfast, travel overland to Cassange community within Marau Peninsula. There, find some of the best beaches of the Brazilian coast as well as fresh water lagoons. The combination of beach and lagoons create a unique paradise for swimming and watching the sunset. Lunch, dinner and accommodations tonight at Marau.
Day 5: Day of Leisure in Marau Peninsula.
Today will be free to enjoy optional activities. Choose among some different options including a walk in the village of Barra Grande and its quiet beaches, visiting a community proficient in artisan chocolate making, snorkeling in Taipu de Fora reefs, or just relaxing at the pousada and taking in the atmosphere or finish reading Amado's novel. Lunch, dinner and accommodations tonight in Marau.
Day 6: Flight Home.
After breakfast at the hotel, be met by a representative and take a land transfer to Ilheus airport to board the flight home.
