Here you are in Krakow. At the time of the arrival you are transferred to the hotel in the city center. From there you have free time to visit the city until the evening when the group meets for dinner in the hotel restaurant. Former capital of Poland, Cracow has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural, and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic hubs. Cracow is cited as one of the most unique destinations in the world, thanks to its very reach cultural heritage across the different epochs. The Historic Centre of Krakow with its wonderful urban layout was added in 1978 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 2000, Cracow was also named European Capital of Culture.
After the breakfast, we will take part in the guided tour (Cracow city center). We will take a walk to the Main Market Square, the biggest Middle Age (Medieval) market in Europe where we can admire St. Mary Church and Sukiennice, former Cloth Hall. For ages people have strolled around there to socialize, to do shopping and to listen to the music played by numerous street performers. We will admire the beauty of Medieval Castle which overlooks the city from the Wawel hill. We will also have a chance to see unique Kazimierz - old Krakow's Jewish quarter. Before it was a separate city then integrated with Krakow. We will see old synagogues (the oldest dated back to XVth century) and Jewish cemetery from XVIth century. Walking along narrow streets we will be continuously coming across little cafés and restaurants. After the lunch, it’s time for the departure in the region of Bieszczady (3 h 30 minutes) where our wildlife adventure will start. We will meet our guides who will present the program for the next days. In the evening, we will have a welcome dinner.
Around 4 a.m. in the morning, we are ready for the departure into the wild. We have at our disposal four different viewing spots (for three of them we will use fixed observation posts and in one place, we will use a mobile photo hide). We will spend around 4 hours at our viewing spot, scanning the landscape and picking up any movement. Then, it’s time for breakfast. After the breakfast, we will spend around three hours exploring the surrounding area with the guide. We will be examining animals sign and the general ecology of the area. We will also have a possibility to admire a waterfall Czarci Mlyn in Lipowiec. Then, it’s time for evening animals watching before reaching the hotel for the dinner.
At 5 a.m. in the morning, our guides will pick us up at our place of accommodation and take us on a jeep ride through the forest of Baligrod. We will enjoy the scenery full of panoramic views. We will pass through wild nature but also through the villages abandoned due to the “Operation Vistula” (a codename for the 1947 forced resettlement of Ukrainian minority including Boykos and Lemkos from the south-eastern provinces of post-war Poland, to the Recovered Territories in the west of the country). We will also have the opportunity to see the charcoal-burners as the tradition of charcoal-burning is still kept in the region of Bieszczady. We will be also examining animals sign in the forest before coming back to the hotel for the breakfast (around 9 a.m.).
We will have free time to relax in the hotel. In the afternoon, we will visit the museum of hunting and nature « Knieja » in Nowosiolki, known for the biggest exposition of natural history in the region. We will have the opportunity to assist to an in-depth lecture on the wildlife in Bieszczady with the focus on the bear. Then, we will return to the hotel for the dinner.
We are leaving at 4 a.m in the morning to reach one of our viewing spots. Our choice will depend on animals already observed and on the group preferences. We spend 4 hours trying to observe animals. Then, it’s time for breakfast. After the breakfast, we will take part in the San River pontoon trip. It will be an excellent opportunity to discover some of the local birdlife. We will observe and photograph birds such as the great cormorant, the grey heron, the mallard. Then, we come back to the hotel and it’s time for evening tracking. Around 7 p.m., we come back to the hotel for the dinner.
Today, we will take part in an excursion to the high part of Bieszczady Mountains. We will have the opportunity to see the highest peaks of Bieszczady covered by the beautiful sub alpine meadows called "poloniny". We will be enjoying breath taking vistas as well as a large variety of the plants typical to the region. Coming back to the hotel, we will stop in Muczne where we will have the opportunity to visit the bison farm. The farm has a total area of approximately 7 ha and allows for watching the animals in their natural environment. We will also visit a beautiful orthodox church representing the typical architecture of the region. We come back to the hotel for the dinner.
We leave at 4 a.m. for our last morning spent on observation of animals (around 3 hours). Then, it’s time for breakfast. After the breakfast, we leave Bieszczady region and come back to Krakow.
