Mérida City. Breakfast. A/h assistance and early transfer to the Teleférico’s first station in Plaza Las Heroinas (five stations), taking the first car in the morning all the way to the top (birding in every station), and then after lunch walking back to the city (3 hrs downhill) from the second station called “La Montana”, (we suggest to start around two) look for the trail (primary clouded forest on the northern face of Sierra Nevada National Park) and follow it down to the village of El Arenal, cross the Chama River and walk up through “Cuesta del Teleferico” to be in the city again in the late evening. Good luck! (4th station, Paramo Pipit, Bar-winged Cinclodes, Speckled Teal, Bearded-helmetcrest Hummingbird, 3rd station; Black-chested-buzzard eagle, Purple-back Thornbilled, Swordbilled Hummingbird, Merida Sunangel, Coal-black Flowerpiercer, Blue and black tanager, 2nd station, Blue-capped tanager, Green Jay, Emerald Toucanet, Rose-headed Parakeet).
