Day 01: Walking Tour 1: Porto - Régua - Pinhão (3.9 km / 2 mi | +90 m / 295 ft.). Pick-up at the airport in Porto. Transfer to Régua. The Walking Trail of Quinta do Tedo.
Transfer from Quinta Nova to Pinhão. Overnight in Pinhão.
Day 02: Walking Tour 2: Harvest day in Quinta Nova (5,7 km / 3.5 mi | Accumulated climbing: +364 m / +1194 ft) Today you will spend a very special day in Quinta Nova. Quinta Nova offers you several options of hiking trails with amazing views of the Douro river and valley. Overnight in Pinhão.
Day 03: Walking Tour 3: Pinhão - Pocinho - Mêda - Marialva | Longroiva (19 km / 12 mi). The day will start with a short train ride up to the town of Pocinho on the famous Douro railway road. After a short van transfer, you will begin your walk in the village of Mêda. You will walk through an ancient trail still used by the local people that connects this village to the Historical Village of Marialva. Overnight in Marialva.
Day 04: Walking Tour 4: Stone Carvings and hike the Côa Valley (14 km/ 9 mi). Today’s hike will take you to the Côa River Valley that features various stone carvings. After lunch, you will visit the Archeological Park, where you will see several stone carvings. The hike continues the after the visit , but if you prefer a 4x4 ride will transfer you. A short transfer will get you back to Marialva. Overnight in Marialva.
Day 05: Walking Tour 5: Marialva - Pocinho - Barca D'Alva | Castelo Rodrigo (6.8 km / 4.2 mi)
After a transfer to Pocinho you will enter a boat that will take you to Barca d’Alva. Then you will hike the famous “Calçada de Alpajares”. The path of Alpajares or Devil’s Path (Calçada do Diabo). Transfer to Castelo Rodrigo or for those that want to continue walking there is the chance to walk part of the GR22 - The Great Route of the Portuguese Historical Villages. Overnight in Castelo Rodrigo.
Day 06: Walking Tour 6: Faia Brava Natural Reserve (10.32 km / 6.41 mi). Today you will visit “Reserva da Faia Brava” (Faia Brava Natural Reserve). You will start the walk in the small village of Algodres, heading to the Côa Valley. At the end of the day, a short transfer will take you to the Historical Village of Castelo Rodrigo. Overnight in Castelo Rodrigo.
Day 07: Walking Tour 7: Marofa Pilgrimage Trail and Almeida Historical Village (6 km / 3.8 mi). After a visit to Castelo Rodrigo you will walk to “Alto da Marofa” – mountain ridge. It’s one of the most important mountains in the area due to its 975 m / 3199 ft high. On the way to the top you will follow a pilgrimage trail that passes by several little chapels. After arriving at the top of Marofa you will have a short transfer to the Historical Village of Almeida. Free lunch. Overnight in Porto.
Day 08: Departure. Transfer from the hotel to the airport.
